Dash Cluster.

Is it possible to swap the dash cluster from a 2005 ss/sc into a 2006 ss/sc. Is there anything that needs to be changed? The odometer will read incorrectly in the new vehicles also correct? The odometer reading that is in the 05 being swapped into the 06 will read what the 05 was correct?

NOOOO I don't want it to read correct. I want the mileage from the 05 in my 06. How do I do this lol. I am not talking about swapping motors or ecu's just the dash cluster in itself. Can I make the 05 mileage read onto the 06 car by swapping the dash clusters?

oh well you cant do that im like 99 percent sure, if you find out where the memory is stored then swap that, but that will be a bit of research/work

the info is stored in the BCM. there is other issues involved, along with legality issues down the road.

Bryan thank you so much for the information I really appreciate it. Now I need to lookup where a BCM is and how to swap it. I am basically just rolling forward my odometer a few thousand miles. It will be rolled back to exact mileage after I do what I need to do. Or I can just drive 7k miles lol.

edit: body control module, anyone know where its located at?

I would rather not get into it on this site, I basically just need to have 7k more miles on my car then it has right now.

Area - If I find a bcm that has 65k miles on it and put it in my car it will read 65k miles in my car correct? Or is it not possible to swap bcm's? Where is the bcm located? PS: I am sorry im asking to be spoon fed this information but the search button isn't helping me much on this issue lol.

Edit: Area - thanks for the answer I appreciate it, will the mileage change after I swap it?

Area - PS: that annoying 563 phone number that called you the other day was me lol thanks for not answering =P.

Edit: The other questioned wasn't really answered. Once the BCM is swapped the mileage will be changed correct? The 05 with the bcm has 61k, if I put that into my 06 will my odometer read 61k?

Now that you know its me feel free to answer my calls haha. I wanted to talk to you about a few things, actually do you mind if I give you a buzz now. I want to ask you random annoying questions that are going to bug you lol. I am getting ready to do a full motor build and just kinda wanna run some things by you. Let me know if your cool with this if not I won't call lol.

edit: My logic is that if the BCM stores the mileage then the BCM once swapped into another car should read the mileage from the original car. AKA I put a bcm with 60k miles into my car, my car should read 60k miles. Can anyone confirm this?

Will not work. Car won't run. The bcm has to be programed to the car. Plus it won't display the mileage of the car it comes from. Only way to change the mileage is to install a new bcm and preform the bcm setup with a tech 2. And the bcm is located on the ps of the center consule by your feet behind a panel. The bcm acts as a fuse block too.

ok, so you can NOT swap bcm's from one car to another and have them work. If I purchased a new BCM how would I change the mileage on it to what I need it to be?

Is the only way to change the odometer then with a tech 2?

Yes. And even then I'm not sure if you will be able to adjust the mileage. The cluster has the milage stored in it and I believe the pcm too. When u preform the new bcm setup with a tech 2 you have to enter the mileage and it then saves it but I believe it has to match with the other modules in order to work. I have never tried to change the mileage when I worked at a dealer cause you can get in big trouble for doing it.

Right right, I think I am just going to put it on a dyno with cruise control set at 120 for awhile lol.

I'm an idiot I figured out the best thing to do. Im jacking it up, putting 2 jack stands on it and setting cruise control at roughly 80mph until I hit the mileage that I need. Thanks boys.

Ok I will just explain it then lol. For warranty reasons I need my motor to be at 63k miles. I am currently at like 56700 miles. Warranty work can't get done until its at 63k miles. The warranty work there doing is VERY expensive so I need the car to be at that mileage ASAP.

You do realize that at 80 mph its going to take 78.75 hours if the mileage you stated is correct. Even set at 100mph its still going to take 63 hours. At 200mph it's going to take 31.5 hours.
