I did just get off the phone with JBP and he is thinking it is still just a spring because even though #1 is low, it is not low enough to be "butted rings". He says it is more likely that the srping is causing a valve to stick and not allow for the full range of compression to be acheived.
Now it is off with the valve cover time.
More investigation.
This has nothing to do with being "a man". I will make a decision based on what I discover today not the anger I am feeling.
As well taking a partially completed car and getting someone else to complete it is more headaches and cost.
Getting my money back is also easier said than done, as I have paid for what has been done and is it really fair to expect anyone to work for free? I know I don't.

You can't win an argument with your wife. It is a literal impossibility. You could be 100% right, and have 300,000 scientists, physicians, albert einstien, and Bill Nye the science guy behind you, and you'd still lose. Still though... RWD Balt

If you did the work then you can't really dump it on jbp (especially the sleeve work), if they did it then epic fail.
I mean couldn't you just swap the exhaust springs (possibly valves and retainers) for the first cylinder and that should fix the problem. Right?
All those comp numbers seem low to me, most of the ones i've tested were damn near 200 or over, 190 minimum. Cams might cause the drop, but still...
Did they use the regular diamond pistons in there, or order up some oddball size or something?

Well there is no longer any doubt about whether or not the problem was from the bottom or top end of the engine.
It was a bottom end problem.
What conclusive evidence do I have that it was the bottom end?
The giant puddle of oil on the garage floor after a very obvious catastrophic internal engine sound.
Remember that "at least you didn't perforate your block" comment?
Well that is no longer the case. Something said f@#* you and the rest is just the cleanup.
The good news from this is, JBP is going to warranty the engine, lock stock and barrel.

Yes this has been one struggle after another. I am putting pressure on them to fix this very fast. The other car does carry some weight for me.
I have been so long without the car(s) that it really is becoming a major stree factor. I really don't like driving my pickup and now instead of selling it I need to re-insure it.
