DP cat or no cat
DP cat or no cat
I was lookin into the ZZP Downpipe
wat do u think would b better for more power highfow cat or no cat?
i would figure highflow cat to create back pressure...but maybe im wrong

If all you are concerned about is peak power, go cat-less. But having a cat will make your exhaust sound much better as well as make your power curve much better. The reason I say this is because I was with another member when he put his car on the dyno after putting a cat back on. He lost a few peak horsepower, but the midrange was much better.
I would say if you are highly modded you might want to ditch the cat because i know on my car mine got way way too hot, most of the power coming from going catless is in the tune, because you cna bump up timing, more timing = more power.
I had to get rid of the CAT to get rid of excessive heat. By getting rid of it I was able to add timing and as a result I gained more power all over.
The big downsides are louder exhaust, raspy exhaust note, and smell. The worst part of this is the rasp.

Exhaust is heat created after the burn. Alcohol does not help there. The idea is to get the HEAT away from the cylinder head as fast as possible.
Catless changes the exhaust tone more than you can imagine. My car with the dump open sounds like a Honda now. But, when I look at my stock dp it is easy to see that it was glowing red hot before.
I wouldnt say anyone d/p is better than the other, anything dp is better than the stock one, you will see higher gains without a cat, due to you being able to bump timing via hp tuners, but you should see a descent gain with a 2.5 d/p with high flow cat.
