just for a reference, i had no problems with the filter for over 1 year (~20,000 miles). then all of a sudden my maf went out. i pulled apart my intake and everything was covered with oil. even my tb was basically ruined. from cleaning/reoiling it slowly built up oul in my intake and ended up really ******* my car up.

if you want to use a filter get an aem dryflow, or one of the new k&n dry filters. don't mess with any oiled filters.

the oil that is on the filter gets sucked through the filter and into the intake. when i pulled my inatke off it was bone dry... all the oil was in the intake tube, on my maf, and all over my tb.

most filters are oiled honestly.

K&N has been around a long time making filters, so its not like you can discount them as bad.....but the simple fact is dryflow is a better technology, basically exactly the same results but without oil on the filter.

tb = throttle body. i didn't have to replace it i had to take of the throttle body and clean it out with throttle body cleaner.

there is really no way to avoid that other than not oiling the filter which would be horrible since the oil is what cathes all the particulates in the air.

listen i really don't care who uses an oiled filter or not. it's not my car, but i'm trying to give you a heads up to avoid the headaches i've gone through the past 3 months trying to get my car to run right again. if you want to screw yourself in the long run, then by all means be my guest.

im gonna have to say that the airbox mod is great but with the 1009 filter i think it is the bigger one of the two k&n's ,fits loose and i had it on for abot 2 months and it started falling off. So i had to tighten it back up and hopefully its doing good its about time for a check and i think im just gonna get a dryflow with my xmas money
