DryCharger

Ok i installed my K&N CAI thursday and i put the drycharger on like it said. I really didnt want to at first, because it looks like it would restrict airflow. But it said it would keep water off so i did it. Well, after i put everything back together, i relized that the filter isnt even open to the ground, its still enclosed in plastic, so i dont see how water could get to it? I was wondering how many of you with the K&N actually put the drycharger cover thing on?? I noticed that INJEN and all the others dont use one, so it cant be something that you have to have. What do ya'll think?

Yeah, the intakes seem pretty well protected. I think GM made it like that because the stock intake sits right in there and they don't want any water getting in there and screwing with the engine. If I bought the K&N I probaly wouldn't put that drycharger on. The only way something would happen is if there was a flood and you decided to swim with your cobalt. It looks as if it's pretty well protected in the fender.

Personally, I'd put it on. I made my intake that sits in the same spot as you guys intakes, and I even sealed off that area from water. But, it still gets plenty wet. Water gets in around the headlight too. And I really doubt it will hurt airflow at all.

And I'm not to worried about my car getting water in the engine. Its not a forced induction motor, but you guys are sucking air in, so if it gets wet, theres a real good chance that it will actually suck in the water. Better to be safe than sorry.

I'm using the dry charger on mine , better safe than sorry . if you pour water on the dry charger it just runs off , were as the filter will soak it up and become wet and restrictive .

Don't leave it off

leave it off dont be a pansy. Down in south fl we get more rain than anyone and there are tons of guys around here with thier filters lower than thier bumper and the've never had a problem. As long as you dont submerge your filter in water and run your car your good but if water just splashes on it who cares, its kinda the same thing as water injection, lol.
