dual exhuast advantages??

I was just wondering if there would be any improvment (or decline) in performance on a SCSS by installing dual exhuast. RKsports sells one and i just think it looks much better, but if the performance suffers who needs it. thx for any feedback

No advantage at all. It would not be a true dual set-up just like the SRT4. Stick with stock set-up, it will be lighter. Duals only work on V6's and V8's and even there you probably not notice too much!

I think that a V8 or V6 would benifit more with dual exhuast. since we only have one bank of exhuast ports it would not inprove preformance as much as a V6 or V8 that has 2 backs of exhuast ports.

Bottem line is that it should inprove the exhuast flow. I would think that you would see in the order of 5 to 7 hp mabe up to 10 improvment. A Dino would tell the story for sure. If you had a long 4 to 1 you could see some inprovment in the order of up to 20. Better yet if you had 2 cylinders to one exhuast and the other 2 to the other exhuast the a crossover in the middle plus a trick header that had 2 to 1 and 2 to 1 you could see the 20 hp increes.

It is all about flow and the better flow you have the less restriction on the motor you get.

I would get it if I had the $$$. But I would also the the SC dyne header with it. they will complement echother.

No, the dealer probably put some stuff on it and jacked up the price a little bit. Like the Cavalier Extreme.. Dealer around here took a base Cavalier put the FAKE ram air hood on it, American Racing 15's, Dual exhaust, etc.. Now the Sunfire GT's came with dual exhaust from the factory but not true dual exhaust. I'm not even sure how you can make a 4cyl have true dual exhaust
