If I might make a suggestion.

Get a logs of simulated 1/4 mile runs if you have a safe place to do it. Something like 5-95 MPH at full throttle would be usefull information. Don't forget to bleed the air out of the stock HE so it's a fair comparison.

It would also be usefull to do the endplate mod, get data then ad the aftermarket HE so as to be able to evaluate each change independantly.

Good luck

I consider the expansion tank to be a required addition. It would be very hard to get the air out with option 1.

What do you have data logs of so far?

With the expansion tank (the one from the redline) you just run the over flow hose to the fitting on top of the stock heat exchnger correct?

The 1/4 inch Outlet is the Bleeder Line, For the Bleeder Valve you have to install!

Not the overflow hose. There is a small fitting near the top, 1/4" hose I believe, that gets plumbed to the fitting on top of the exchanger using the .040" orfice.

if your going with the GM one theres two options A and B, B requires an additional surge tank y fitting and cross lines

Correct me if im wrong. Maybe im missunder standing. But on the extra coolant bottle. Theres a 1/4 inch hose running off. Gm says make some goofy bleeder set up. Cant you just take that 1/4 line and run it to the top of the heat exchanger where there is a fitting there that gm just put a plug in? its the highest point in the heat exchanger and the highest point in the coolant bottle. That should mean it bleeds all the air out?

I just finished doing option B last weekend. You are correct, the 1/4 air bleed line goes from the top of stock heat exchanger on the passenger side where the pipe plug is, over to the top of the stock Redline coolant tank's 1/4 nipple. HAHA, I said nipple. The reason the .040" orfice is there is to restrict flow back through the 1/4" line.

No normal maintenance required, the bleed line automaticly bleeds air out of it. You may just have to top up the coolant resivoir time to time at first.

I just had to top up. Stage 2 install makes the coolant level drop a little. No big deal.
