E85 problems
So im really thinking about getting tuned on E85. I told a couple of my buddys that work at my dealership and they were saying that it makes fuel pumps go out and can cause alot of other problems. They said if I want my car to last I shouldnt do it, fuel can boil in the lines, car wont start in winter and stuff like that. Is any of this true? If I do go E85 are there certain things I should do to help prevent problems like that?

yeah my tuner warned me about my car not starting on e in the winter and converted most people back to gas, i stayed on e... I started fine in freezing temratures but i did have to give the car 5 minutes or so to warm up. in terms of the fuel pump i cant see it being a problem since alot of gm cars are e85 cars... your biggest problem is finding fuel which there is many solutions for that

I dunno.... I live in Iowa and it's pretty tough finding stations. I'd check online before making the plunge. It'd suck pretty hard if you had to drive a decent distance just to buy gas.

if and when you convert... the only reason they have problems starting in winter is because of the tune. you WILL need to be retuned for each season... otherwise thats when you run into problems. running e85 gives you more power, your motor runs cooler and better mpg (i heard). im sorry but if you run cooler im pretty sure that extends engine life. to make it even better get cooling mods and you'll be PERFECT

If you have plenty of E85 stations in your area, run it. Definitely worth it, imo. We only have 4 stations in NC, thats it. If it wasn't for the lack of stations, I'd be running it as we speak.

Its worth it OP. I live one state over so I know how cold it gets and my car started every time last winter on E85 just like it was on 91, there are just a few things to change in the tune to make it start perfect is all. I have it parked this winter otherwise Id be running E through the winter again.

What mods are required to run E-85, Im thinking it might become more popular.
If your tuend for E? cant get it, can you still run say 87 or 93??
Do you need any new fuel filters? Or Gaskets ? Or anything?
I think some one mentioned Larger fuel injectors...
