Eaton M90 Supercharger

I've come across someone in my town, who I know pretty well, that happens to be selling an Eaton M90 roots type supercharger for only $100, used.

I'm just wondering if I could use this beast of a supercharger in the 2.0L LSJ! Is it possible??

It wouldn't be worth it.

hmmmm why not? the M90 can sustain higher boost pressure under less stress

I was actually considering the same thing. A friend of mine had told me he could get a hold of one for about the same price. I'm no expert but as far as I know, you would just need to fab up an adapter plate... but one of my concerns is if it would be too large for our tiny 2.0...

It's not going to be worth it...what's the point of changing out the superchargers. And no an m90 is not to large lol, look at the 1900.

spite - how much boost do you plan on running, I bet you aren't even under a 2.8 pulley which the m62 handles just fine. The work involved would not be worth it in the end.

Nothing is ever too large ;] haha

To my understanding, the 2.0L LSJ was built to take really high boost pressure on stock internals. What I'm worried about is getting under that cramped hood! Taking out the liner might make it possible.

I'm gonna take a look at the M90 this Thursday...possibly pull of my M62 and see how the pulley alignment matches up when the M90 sits in it's place. This would be a sick mod if it could actually work

If I'm not mistaken, there is already atleast one person on the board running an M90...

It wouldn't bolt directly up. You would need to build/find an adapter plate and in the end it's still not going to be worth it. There is a reason why no one else, or the majority of people don't do this. Do some research first, your getting in way over your head on this.

If you want a better supercharger look into the 1320 and 1900

I don't run a 2.8" pulley and I know it can run them fine, but doesn't that seriously decrease the life of the supercharger? It's just an idea for when I possibly switch to forged internals.

It's not about the worth to me...it's about the ability. I love messing around with stuff like this! And it would make my Cobalt unique haha

This is based solely off or reading on here, not first hand experience, so take it for what that's worth. but the M90 can't be spun as fast as the m62 before getting out of its efficiency range. So even though it's larger, its making a hotter charge, when you spin it fast enough to make big boost numbers.

Again, that's what I've read on here.. and I'm only playing the role of the Parrot with that.

It doesn't really decrease the life of the supercharger until you really start putting strain and stress on it by dropping to a 2.5 or 2.6 pulley and you start over-spinning the blower. I know people who have put over 100k miles on a 2.8 pulley and the motor is still running fine today. We have the ability to do whatever we want with our motors, but sometimes certain things are just dumb to do, sorry to say. If you want to be unique go with a twincharged kit, or a better supercharger that will actually have a benefit for you. The m90 wouldn't gain you anything besides a headache.

Thank you. THat's the kind of tech info I needed.

I didn't know that about the 2.8" pulley.

Thanks for your help guys. I wont be wasting a $100 on this blower now

No problem man, you weren't the first to bring this up. I wasn't trying to be rude or anything by shutting you down, It just really really isn't worth it. Leave that s/c to the 3800 guys =D.

You do not put a blower with a displacement .1L less than the engine its being used on...

OP google the HotRod Ecotec build. They seemed to have no problems making decent power with the M90.
