is there a controller out there that lets us tune our variable valve timing and lift control? like vtec and vvt controllers for hondas and toyotas?

Uhhhh, you do know that ECOTEC is not a system like VTEC right? ECOTEC is just the brand of the engine. Like.."Northstar V8" etc. And to my knowledge there are none....

I didn't say anything about the VVT. I was letting him know that ECOTEC isn't the same as VTEC, and there aren't any controls for them. So

Why wouldn't the 2.0 have variable valve timing technology? Now days what engines don't have it?

cause it dosent. lol

i think cause the vvt brings in more air and raises the compression. when you have forced induction, you dont want higher compression.

It's because they used the LSJ race casting for the 2.0 which doesn't accomodate for the VVT components. The head was originally designed for the dragstrip which has no use for the extra weight, added complexity and low-end drivability and fuel economy.

Having opened up, worked on, and ported the LSJ head. I can assure you, 100%, the LSJ (2.0L Ecotec) DOES NOT have VVT.

The Variable Valve Timing in the ECOTECs are not a profile change like VTec or MIVEC, the ECOTECs use cam phasing technology.

A "Vtec Controller" would change how soon the change in the cam profile would occur. Cam Phasing is constantly changing. It's completely different.

Of course like pointed out, LSJs don't have VVT, the LNF does.

The following ECOTECs have it: LNF, LE5 & LAT
