So if someone was to get a 2.75 piping done and exactly like your setup how much less would it cost?

Update: Muffler On!

Whelp,

Practically having straight pipe on for the last few months has finally made me cave in to something a little more managable. Mainly, the drone on the highway and increased vibrations were giving me headaches on trips over 10 minutes. Not to mention, I've had idle issues when taking it out of load because of the lack of backpressure.

So I've been searching for 3" mufflers for the last month or so and finally came to a decision. Well, actually, my fiance surprised me this weekend w/ it being installed at RD Fabs while we were in Syracuse getting some other **** done. The muffler is a Magnaflow SS 3" C/C straight through street muffler. Let me tell you, it's a whole other ballgame now. I can finally hear my supercharger again and stand long trips on the highway. The best way to descripe what this has done, is that it has lowered the tone and peak db incredibly and makes the exhaust sound "tuned." For now, I'll give you pictures, today after work you get new video.

Thanks to Nick (Rollover360), I was able to pick up another stock exhaust tip so everything looks subtle. I had Ryan weld on ferrels to the muffler, straight pipe and catback so I can continue to use the straight pipe for the track...if I want. The ferrels work w/ v-band or turbo clamps for a quick 5 minute swap of parts. Couldn't ask for better work from Ryan, or a better surprise from my Fiance. I knew there was a reason I'm marrying her...

Cool Edubs. I think a muffler will save your ear drums. How is everything else going with the car? How are those cams treating you?

Cams are doing well. Still tweaking everything, but I have a feeling I might cave in and turn to Meth inj over the summer just so I can finally hit that 300whp...

So Edubs, it is official. You are now one of us "old" people who choose the quieter style of exhaust system.
I had to do the same for the very same reasons.

Vids didn't turn out as well as I wanted them to. I think I need to put you on the side of the road again for some fly-by's. I don't think my camera microphone can even pick up the tone because it's too low.

Tell me about it. This is kinda why I'm so stoked, though. This thing is a full 3" catback & DP w/ a huge header and it sounds like stock in the videos...

No, seriously Andy, I'm done. This is my final exhaust. I'll be perfectly content w/ this until the M62 ***** the bucket and I have to go turbo. Words can't even express how sleek this exhaust is. Best I've heard on a Balt yet...

You're getting there. Did you finally get everything installed?

BTW, I'm serious about putting you on the side of the road. Katie was talking about taping the camera to the passenger headrest last night because our tripod is in CT.

Idle is a lot better, but there's still a little tweaking to do. We'll figure something out about meeting up next week to get more video. I think part of the issue is the mix-match-mix'em'up 60's I've got on right now. We'll see what happens when I throw in the other injectors and have Matt tweak w/ the new HPT...

You workin' or did you call in sick to diagnose your issue today?

I should prob throw up my latest video w/ the muffler broken in. Can't quite hear much because the camera man had a seizure, but I assure you it's still not even close to as loud as w/ the resonator on there in stead of the muffler...

What kind of muffler?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Obviously a magnaflow.

If you don't tell me, I will...do something nuts.

OMFG it sounds like GMPP Touring...it is SO ******* sweet and mellow and deep.

Tell me.

I don't care if I have a turbo and it will be quieter...tell me...I want this set up.

Both resi's and a muffler or one?

And if both where are they at?!

Tell me....PLEEEEEASE

Just one of those two resonators and a magnaflow street series straight through muffler. It was quiet as hell at first, but it has toughened up a bit over the last 5K...

There's also that 3" magnaflow cat in there as well. But I'm going to be swapping that out for a Random Tech 3" unit.

Dude, I am not gonna lie...I was worried when you told me to use just the two resi's.

I listened to the first videos, and started looking at the HRC cat back again, but this...this GEM you showed me now?

Holy ****.

That is a nice deep, non obnoxious sound.

That's why I had to put the muffler on. On the S/C cars, it's just too loud for a DD. W/ a turbo, small cat and two res'; it shouldn't be bad at all. But I doubt you would lose much at all throwing a straight through muffler on there at the end. The nice thing about the magnaflow is that they're T304SS so they won't rust out on ya after a year of DD'ing...

With a mod list like this:

G85
60lb/hr Injectors
2.79" Pulley
GMS2 Belt
Cometic H/G
NGK BKR7E (One Step Colder Plugs)
RD Fabs Custom CAI (3" w/o PCV Return)
RD Fabs Custom Header/DP w/ 3" Cat
RD Fabs Custom 3" Catback
TTR Engine Mount
Prothane Trans Mount Inserts
DC Front Strut Brace
JBP TriFlow Stage II Cams
JBP Valve Springs
Cobra H/E
Dyno Tuned by TTP
258whp/230wtq (Mustang)

You ought to realize that no matter how SWEET your custom and very expensive exhaust setup is, You would have gained MORE power with a 2.5" rather than 3".

But it is a very nice exhaust.

That was kind of a dick post ralli; but regardless, let me respond to it:

Custom, yes - Good friend's shop made it for me. They're great people making a living here in the U.S.

Very expensive, no. - The cost of this exhaust is no more than I would have had paid for a full Vibrant get-up.

I'd argue that a 3" exhaust will make power over a 2.5" on a cammed motor such as mine, especially on the top end where I want it.

This would all be a moot point anyways if you knew what I had planned for this winter. Not trying to be a dick back, but I think you tend to generalize and assume we're all idiots. This is not the case...
