Engine blown, warranty voided
if they said tire wear and AGE, that is legally age descrimination, you can own there ass if you get a witness or in writing. man that sucks. . . get a lawyer, and pay him 200 bucks to write them a letter; those letters scare the **** out of retailers/dealers.
1. get a copy of your warrentee you signed when you bought the car.
2. take pictures of ANYTHING justifying the voided warrentee
3. Get a Lawyer to write a legal letter letting the dealership or general motors that legal action will be taken.
4. watch the **** hit the fan. . . all at the safety of your home.
5. hopefully hes a good lawyer and you get the respect you deserve .
GOOD LUCK!

so you just took the cai out? why wouldnt you put the stocker back in?
i work for a dealership, iam not in service i am in sales but i know that the warranty doesnt cost the dealership any $$ so usually they are pretty easy going with the warrantys, they just make sure there covered if they get audited or elese the dealership then gets charged back the $$... did you read your warranty manuel? just see what the guidelines are?

If you post your vin i can see what notes are attached to it , and check and see if the warranty has been blocked. The stock pirelli's are bad when it comes to wear , mine were bald at 15K miles , and i didn't abuse em . Had you brought the car in for any other work prior to this?
Step One: Take off the CAI and put the stock box back on.
Step Two: If your under 30 or look like your under 30 years of age get one of your parents to come with.
Step Four: Make sure your parnter (person comming with you knows the same story as you)
Step Five: Get a copy of the Magnuson Moss Act
Step Six: Rotate Tires if front tires are worn more then back.
Step Seven: Get ready to step on some toes if you have to, a good game plan is always to have a plan. Make sure you know your story inside and out and stick to it. Make sure you understand that your warnity is not voided. For peice of mind, when and if they will fix your motor buy the diamond forged pistons and go with stock bore and compression. Have them install the pistons so if someone goes wrong you can point the finger back at them. All though with forged pistons it may void your warinty.

It's pretty much general knowlege that most GM techs know less about their cars than we do. So don't take their accusations as final word. Seek higher council... i.e. legal action. Leave it GM to assume based on bald tires that are noted for fast wear.
get a lawyer man. It's a freaking SS, it was meant to be abused. Get a lawyer and fight it. Make them fix it! If you had bought a regular cobalt, I'd have to agree with the dealership, but all this bullshit with the dealers about not fixing the cobalt SS is crap. Especially if you just had GM parts on it.
they pulled the abuse crap with me on my front rotors being all chewed up. I was 21 and wearing my work clothes (honda service department). I took my dad with me, and all of a sudden, they were like o, well we will take care of that for you. ******* doushbags...
my car had less than 10,000 at that point, and no mods...

Did they tear the engine down? For them to void your warranty, they have to call the Techline, file pics, have a DSM come and verify the cause and finally give you a statement stating EXACTLY what caused the engine failure. I work at a medium duty GM shop and we went through this a month ago when a guy put gas in his diesel truck. Even though it was obvious the gas made the engine fail, I had to tear it down to show the cylinders washed out and piston crowns melted. Even then, the DSM paid the labor to replace the engine, customer had to pay for parts. Be nice and talk to the manager, GM isnt as bad to deal with as everyone says they are. They pay a lot of claims that are obviously neglect and abuse at my shop.

total bs. dont let them push you around. they have to fix it i dont care how bad the car was beat on. if you are running it within gms limits then they have to fix it. you can drive the car at 6500 rpms in second gear all day long if you burn something out its there fault for not making the car shift on its own
Treadwear Grades
UTQG Treadwear Grades are based on actual road use in which the test tire is run in a vehicle convoy along with standardized Course Monitoring Tires. The vehicle repeatedly runs a prescribed 400-mile test loop in West Texas for a total of 7,200 miles. The vehicle can have its alignment set, air pressure checked and tires rotated every 800 miles. The test tire's and the Monitoring Tire's wear are measured during and at the conclusion of the test. The tire manufacturers then assign a Treadwear Grade based on the observed wear rates. The Course Monitoring Tire is assigned a grade and the test tire receives a grade indicating its relative treadwear. A grade of 100 would indicate that the tire tread would last as long as the test tire, 200 would indicate the tread would last twice as long, 300 would indicate three times as long, etc.
Total crock of sh** voiding warranty cause tires were worn or other visual inspection. And what if it had new tires on it what the hell would they have said then?
You should see the Z06's that come in to dealers in this area with blown engines, transmission and rears from road racing or 1/4 drag racing and they dont get their warranties voided ever. Id get a lawyer and take the jerkoffs to court but that might not actually help in any way. Id go way over someones head on it. When I took my Z06 in once for warranty work the service writer said "hey you have road race tires on it so you race it then and thats when it broke?"., I replied it broke going to the grocery store and road race tires are on it cause I got em for free.. They fixed the rear under warranty.

I can't believe that a GM STAGE2 and a CAI cause piston #4 to go . I've heard of piston #4 going with STAGE 2 and a 2.8 with a CAI but no the 3.1 pulley that comes with STAGE 2 . This is crazy. What did the car do when this happened. When you down shifted. DI the car stall out or something or go into limp mode?

lol they can refuse to fix your car for anyreason basically especially with a "sports" car. **** my warranty was voided basically the day I drove it off the lot. hey voided mine for bullshit reason, even had the regional rep come down and tell me to get my car out or they were gonna charge storage fees.
But the hell with it..... the gm mech's by me are tards anyway, and my car is much faster now lol

The dealership took a picture of my Cobaltss.net sticker on my car for what i am not to sure, i was told i would be getting a piston/rings a rod a bearing head gasket etc but they wouldnt hone/bore the cylinder wall if i paid for them to fix it.
