Engine Problems

i just had a question and wondered if anyone could answer it or has had this problem, ive been having real bad idle problems with my car. like when i put the car in neutral after going through the gears the tach will start bouncing really bad, so bad that i shifted from 3rd and put the car in neutral that my car actually stalled while coasting, also my car went into power reduce mode yesterday and it scared the **** outta me, I dont know my car has just been acting really weird lately. Can someone please help me out, thanks.

CobaltSS13 go get your HP Tune... sounds like the bad idle under AC load issue that is expirenced and they did come up with a reflash to help it. When you get the tune have your idle set to 900 rpm. That seemed to be the fix for kellyperformance before the reflash was published.

Mine did it for the first time this morning. Pulling out of the gas station I thought my car was gonna die. It cant be the gas i only use chevron. The idle surged like 4 times then it was fine.

Have you checked for vacuum leaks?

Mine bounces like that too sometimes. I just give the throttle a quick tap and it fixes it. I'm just so use to it now. Also, when I go into reverse I always stall.

no i havent checked for vacuum leaks. i just got back from a quick drive around the block and the car runs fine no limp mode or nothing, also shifting is fine. It just bounces everytime i put it in neutral, also when i leave it in gear it bucks as the car decelerates, is that normal?

I also get the bucking. I think it has to do with being dan.Spec. I still love the tune though. His SD tune doesn't do any of that, perfectly smooth. But sometimes the shifts can be rough. I think he said after he gets his Redline back he's going to work on it so that we can all use it but who knows when he'll get his car back.

go to the dealer and tell them to reflash your car because of stumbling idle. Theres a TSB out for it not sure what the number is. Even if they cant recreate the problem tell them reflash it thats what i did and problem fixed

ummm.... modding a car is not gonna keep stock driveability... if you want to drive it every day with no probs then stay stock .... if you can deal with ****... mod away...

what the hell it sounds like you all just got this problem at the same time lol. I don't know if this could be it, but my car does it when the engine is cold a little. It automatically keeps the revs a little higher than usual to warm up the block, so when i stop at a light before its warmed up a little the tach will jump from around 800 (normal idle) to around 1300 and sit there for a little. It's in my manual, so i guess its completely normal of course i have a totally different car and yours sounds alot more severe. I'd take it in.

no no. i have HPtuners and a 900 idle RPM. and mine some times dips down to about 500 and flys back up. its really bad on my also and sometimes cuts off. i guess we will just wait on a recall. but i have 60lb injectors but this happened before i got them also. i think all cobalts have this problem

I think its just a problem with using the 60's... I think they are just way too big... I"m goin back to 42's next week probably unless I can get the idle thing under control
