Talking exhast Re-vamp

Hey i was woundering IF i were to install a Gm Stg. 2 what would I have to do to optimise my exhast? I already have a manga flow muffle but if i have to i will get rid of it. What about the resinator, header, etc.??? I do want it to be bottle necking

all i did was delete the cat and put a magnaflow on it, but still have the stock header. it flows pretty good but a aftermarket header will help.

any aftermarket header will be better than stock, stay away from GM's extrude manifold, its not worth the money. the downpipe has a bad bottle necking effect where the 02 sensor is, so get a better downpipe.

Ok, so if i were to just go with a new set of header and leave the rest of the exhast would I be fine? Should I run larger piping? What about voiding warentee?

i say run a new header, helps a lot and replacing the downpipe is good too, but it'll set off your CEL most likely

yeh I was thinking of just going with a new header!!! is that fine and run the rest with what i have ??? what type of header should i go with

Should i get a header that gets ride of my downpipe and cat ??? or just a shorty header that keeps both the cat and down pipe

depends on whether or not you can live with a check engine light or have to pass emissions, no cat is illegal but some people do it, an aftermarket downpipe w/ cat will probably still set off the code so thats why most people go without it anyways. I prefer long-tubes, our cars optimum primary length is 32", the closer to that the better, vibrant, custom tubes inc. and weapon-r are my main choices (i have a weapon-r).

JBP is on sale for an amazing price and actually has a curly long tube that will bolt up to stock downpipe, but you'll probably want a professional to install it because it require a little bit more work to fit it in. Weapon-r also requires some extra work to fit as well.

Then do you figure I should just go with a shorty header like Weapon-R? and then just leave my cat and downpipe stock? and I still have stock piping but with magna flow muffle, can I keep that?

get a shorty header such as the Cobalt-Addiction or ZZP. ZZP also makes a nice 2.5DP with a cat that shouldnt throw a code. From what I hear, the ZZP header/DP combo is pretty good.

Dealer will do almost anything you ask them to, and then try to void the warranty for their trouble. If you're warrantied, I wouldn't recommend it... if you aren't warrantied, go for it, but dealers will try to rape you on the install. Find a local speed shop, they're usually cheaper to install stuff like that anyway. I was getting prices to install a 2.8" pulley earlier last week and my dealer was double the price of a private shop. Might just be my dealer, but there's my oipinion, take it or leave it

installing a header isnt that hard...get a 13mm GearWrench with a flex head and do it yourself. I believe the header to DP bolts are 15mm... The header has 10 studs from the head itself. And a little tip; take the DP off first...
