Exhaust getting Raspy?

When i first got my exhaust the thing sounded awesome all the time. No rasp always deep and nice. Now when the car is cold(not warmed up) i get a raspy sound at part throttle. When it warms up it mostly goes away. But sometimes it seems to be faint even when it warms up. Anybody notice this? Or have a solution?

I noticed this too. Mine has done it even when my car was new. Maybe when the cat is warm the rasp is less? dont know why it would all of a sudden start though.

I dont think its the cat, because the first 3 months i had it, the exhaust was amazing. Maybe the cats going bad or something.

Just noticed this this morning actually!

I know when I had my cavalier (I had dual flowmasters) it got raspy one day. I found out a hole had rusted into the weld where one of the hooks were.

If you have a resonator; those are usually the first to go on our cars.

If not, get one and check your muffler.

I think cold temps have a lot to do with this. I have a Hahn 3" and it mellows out once warmed up.

the packing in most resonators and mufflers burn up quite fast, tap your res with a hammer and if it sounds hollow it's probably wearing out.

Hahn Exhaust

Yep I bought my catback hahn used for less than 10k miles and the resonator is junk. Cat is gutted. I removed muffler section and still does the raspy crap. It sounds fricking horrible especially around 3500rpm - 4500rpm. At least they were nice enought to offer a new resonator section for 150.00 hahah. Sounded great dont really beat on the car all that much but almost embaressed to drive near anyone.

basically what you have to do is build you car so that its so fast that it doesnt matter what the exhaust sounds like haha

I've gone through 3 resonators and 3 flex pipes over 2 years, so not too long. One of the things I hate about my car.
