Exhaust Opinions

Righto, after finally coming to understand exhaust systems I think I have put together the list of parts I'm going to do, however I wasn't sure about a few things regarding loudness and, well, legality.

I was planning on doing
-ZZP catless DP with O2 and wideband bungs and no resonator
-ZZP Catback exhaust with Magnaflow muffler
-Badmab Shorty header

My mate has a catless DP on his RX-8 and said he was looking into the fines for being catless on the road, and i guess they START at $25,000. how likely is a cop to look under your car/write you a ticket for having a catless exhaust? and finally, how loud/droney will the 3" DP w/o res and 3" exhaust be? I got a while before I'm ordering this set up since I dont have $780 to spend atm, and if i do go catless i will probably wait until i do my stage 3 kit so it all gets tuned at once.

thanks!

My opinion, don't go catless on the lsj, and keep the resonator

Don't you make more power catless and resonator-less though?

Yes. But you asked about loudness and legality. "Catless has minimal gains on sc cars and is very loud!"

To answer your question about cops, there's a very slim chance that one will ever look under the car to find one, and an even slimmer chance that they will know what one looks like.

If you go catless at least keep the resonator! I don't have a resonator on my catback, but i still have a cat and on cold starts it sounds horrid lol

I have the ZZP Catback Magna Flow exhaust with the Resonator..sounds great not to ricey and hardly any cabin drone unless on the gas...I think its the 2.5 inch to..3 inch on a SC isnt really worth it and doesnt have any gains

after hanging out with a friend for about 30 minutes talking while standing out side of his running catless RX-8, i was driving home and couldnt figure out why i smelled like an old hotrod. and then i realised it's from being catless, the woman would probably never let me alone if i went catless and let it smell like that all the time hahaha

i have a zzp longtube header, catless 3" dp, zzp 3" exhaust..it sounds amazing...never had a cop look for a cat...I got 3 modified exhaust tickets in 2 weeks...lol the cars get louder wen u take the cat off.
if i were u i would do a 3" catless dp with 2.5" exit and a zzp 2.5" exhaust..that will handle most performance needs...

Times have changed boys.

ZZP's new 3" cat-back with their chambered resonator sounds just fine cat-less. Its time to update your opinions because 95% of you are wrong.

Will it still leave my clothes smelling like fumes? I'd love a reason to save $120 ;_;

very true
but a 3" exhaust would be to much for a mildly moded car..
i saw a 15 hp lose wen i put my 3" on before all my other mods...

This is my planned build:
My Little Tupperware: A Redline Story - The Something Awful Forums

I reckon it'll be about 270whp-300whp with everything, not entirely sure though.
