Factory Freak???

So Ive been driving my stage 2, 2.8" pulley setup for a while, and Ive noticed that from a roll, Ive been crushing cars I shouldnt normally beat so badly ( like mustang GT's, GTO's, Camaros, etc. ). I never thought anything of it until ppl started telling me I shouldnt be able to walk newest model Trans Ams, which is what I did once, a WS6 to be exact.

So I talked to my buddy and got a race going. We both have a CAI, Stage 2, and 2.8" pullies. The only difference is I just put on the GMPP exhaust, but otherwise were exactly the same mods wise.

Anyway, we raced from a 30 mph roll up to 120. I pulled 4-5 cars on him before we shut it down. We were completely baffled, and Im thinking I may have a freak car.

Ive raced RSX's before too, and theyre comparable to the stock SS/SC. The only thing is though, I beta them by like 8-10 cars, its fu*kin retarded. I also throw CEL's occasionally when the air gets too cold and I run it hard. Does anyone think I got a factory freak? I hope nothing is wrong with my car...

no its not a freak. with your mods you should be able to hang with if not beat all those cars (if they are stock). some will argue that all LS1 powered vehicles are low 13 second vehicles, but they arent necessarily. RSX's arent comprable to an ss/sc. they are about a half second slower when both are stock.

you should drive your car and race your friend and see the results... then switch cars and see the difference... you might be a better driver. it's worth a shot

I walked the ws6 with just my stage 2 and a CAI though.

you should get a wideband to make sure your not running lean and going to blow up your motor

ls1's are low 13 second cars, but look at what some guys are pulling in their SS/SC's!!! 2.3 60's with mid 13 sec times???? i would say from a roll, thats a damn good race. you dont have a factory freak, you are just using everything that your car has to offer and youre doing it right.

some ls1 are low 13 second cars. take a camaro/firebird, even a damn 5th generation corvette or 04 GTO with an automatic transmission and no mods, and in some cases a convertible/t-top, that will NOT run low 13s. i have a 2004 automatic corvette convertible sitting in the garage right now to prove my point. its slow as *****. got some decent mid-top end power but its a slug out of the hole.

and theres always the bad driver scenario which could explain your situation:p

i have a friend with a late 90s Trans Am WS6, they are quick, but stock it felt as fast as my cobalt was when it was stock. You have to remember those 13 second times are also from a fat 275 wide tire RWD launch. From a roll our cars will undoubtedly toast many others

my mistake, i was definitely not referring to the GTO. mainly the corvette, trans am and camaro. with a good driver these are definitely mid to low 13 cars

i've got basically the same mods. except: zzp2.9", CUSTOM magnaflow catback. dyno, and times in sig. (i have beaten my friends lightly modded WS6. He has K&N ram air, and an exhaust cutout.)
I just think it's quick and you have Driver Mod.

will post the dyno chart and timslips upon request

Do you still have the boost bypass mod done? I was under the impression that with an aftermarket pulley it was semi-dangerous to run the boost bypass mod?

I didnt think anybody still did that mod anymore. Maybe we should start doing it again!!!

Nah, I got rid of the boost bypass. It only makes a difference in first gear, other than that its useless.
