This is VERY interesting to me. I cant wait to see some numbers and I am really not too worried about the price. 1000$ for 25-35hp is GREAT in my eyes.

i hate to contribute to the wake of the dead, but is this idea still being tested or has it been scrapped? If nobody is coming out with an aftermarket manifold i'm thinking of buying a used one this summer and porting it myself.

i'm not too sure how to go about it on the manifolds either, but i'm thinking port matching the intake ports if they aren't already and actually cutting the intake apart and smoothing it out and opening it up on the inside a little, then getting it tig welded back together. It looked pretty rough last time i had it off so i'm thinking some smoothing will at least add a tiny bit of performance.

Its probably going to be a lot of work for little increase, but if i have the money for a spare one and my friend gets his tig welder, then it just might be worth a try.

I was on the phone with Rebel a month ago, and they indicated to me that manifold was still in the works - as well as the cnc ported head. I asked when - they said probably summer of 08 as there was not alot of interest in it, so it is a project that has been put in the background - BTW interest = $$

Yes, the V8 guys do have to spend mucho bucks for stuff, but you should see the whining on their boards.

With the same octane fuel -
every 4°C (20°F) reduction in intake temp. allows .5 psi additional boost, reduced temps, and efficiency is your friend.

did you read that on the Laminova site? I just saw the same thing the other day over there, while reading about laminova tube efficiency. Good to know that a cobra H/E might producing approx 15 degree IAT2 drop will produce .4 psi which equates to almost 4 hp with a 1psi:1hp conversion.

As far as porting the stock manifold, I did mine just lightly last time I had it off the car, the ports in the manifold are much smaller than the ports in the head, they are a restriction for sure. If anyone wanted to send me one, I'll port it for cheap. I just don't have a spare one to play with right now and my truck isn't done so my Cobalt cant come apart for too long.

I'm am obtaining core intake manifolds as we speak and will be sending them out to multiple locations for better analysis. I'm not making anyone any promises and don't expect quick results, but, I intend to find some answers before I get too far into my own engine build.

I am meeting with a company Saturday to see about having my extra intake extrusion honed. Not gonna be cheap but have to here what he says first.

I have a stock intake manifold sitting around the house. Had a guy that was going to buy it for $300 but he fell through. Any offers on it? An extra one means no downtime for getting it ported?!?!

Will that be flow / pressure investigations on bare manifolds with installed laminova's? Or analysis on a running engines? This because the LSJ manifold has no internal runners for each cilinder, and my feeling is that the individual intake pressure waves will hinder the cilinder filling. But actually that is a different problem than the total flow restriction that causes the M62 to see a (lot) higher boost than the engine is using....

Keep us informed.
