Finally decided I am going insane...

Well, this car is my daily driver first off (like 99% of cobalts on here, lol). I have wanted for a while now to go with a smaller pulley and bigger injectors. Over winter I purchased a GM stage 2 kit. After doing a load of research, I realized that the GM kit is really a waste of money for what it is, especially if you are going custom on the tuning. So, I sold it for what I paid for it and broke even. As of now, my current performance mods are 2.5" catback and airbox mod, and a very mild HP tune(just raised rev limit and boost limit). I am thinking of going with a 3" pulley and 42# injectors, and getting a custom tune from paul (BCP, or better known as 06blackg85ss on here). I wanted to go with a 2.8 and 60's, but without a heat exchanger and other cooling mods I would rather stick with the larger pulley for now.

What do you guys think?

I think you should go heat exchanger, 60's and 2.8.

That was my original plan, but money is really short right now. I am making a road trip right past where paul is located, so my plan is to stop there along the way and have the car done up (if he has that friday/weekend open, that is.). I can't afford a HE at the moment.

I mean if funds are short, go get it installed and tuned, see what power your puttin down, if you like it go ahead and keep it. You can always add a H/E and smaller pulley later on.

i have been running 2.8 60s with no cooling mods and no problems for like 8 months with no problem. My car was also tuned by paul.

I would go with the larger pulley until you get cooling mods. better to have safe and useable power instead of risking your motor. just my $0.02 though.

I also don't beat on the car.. it's a daily driver that 90% of the time doesn't see over 3,000RPMS. That will probably help out, too.

I just want to hear that blower scream when I blip the throttle in 2nd.

No problems with overheating or blowing engines or anything like that?

I heard water wetter works pretty good, I might add that if I do go with 2.8 and 60's.

**** this..

2.9 and 42's..

I can't decide on a 2.8 or 3.0 so i'm going in between.

Better safe than sorry I guess. I would think that 2.8 would heatsoak like a **** up top anyway without cooling mods. Most people are throwing the 2.9 on with GM stage 2 canned tunes, so I guess I can't really go wrong there. (OR can I?)

Ahhhh ****.

Get 60s with a 2.8 or 2.9 pulley. You can always add the heat exchanger later on.

I've been searching and I see some people are having problems with the 2.8 and 60's without the extra cooling. Might just be shitty tunes / retarded driving habits, though. Basically I think what this is all going to come down to is which combo I can get for the least amount of money.
