Finally got a dyno.......

Ok, so I finally ran my car on a dyno today.....a dynojet to be exact. The outcome wasn't too bad.....I hit 244hp/217tq with gm stage 2+ a 2.8 and an intake.....anyway I was watching my exhaust during the runs and as it hit the higher RPM range black clouds of smoke were coming from the pipe, not a steady stream but every so often. Im assuming it's just unburned fuel and the car is still running pretty rich, could it be anything else? Im thinking a custom tune is needed pretty soon.(car has full stock exhaust still)

black smoke is unburned fueled... it means your car's running too rich...

Not much to worry about tho... except maube gaz mileage

With mods, the jump in power is bigger than those gains.

Good numbers considering your mods. I ran into the 9.8:1 a/f ratio with a similar setup to yours. Tuning is a must on these cars.

So that car stated above with a CAI dynoed lower than the stock air box? **** I might just go with a tune instead of a pulley lol!

According to the article the CAI dynoed higher than the stock air box. It's just that they tuned the car without the CAI first and then threw it on, dynoed it, and then tuned for the CAI.

Hey Guys, this is correct. We took baseline numbers, then tuned it to see the gains of JUST a tune.

Put the CAI on, expected it to be way lean, which it was and re tuned it showing the gains of a cai/tune over stock

The GM calibrations, and factory calibrations are terrible. We will be working on tuning packages for all intakes, pulley combo's, injectors, etc. We will also be looking at sending out our tunes to HPT customers, or new/reflashed PCM's to customers who cant make it to our shop.

I have customers drive as far as 18hrs for our tuning. A custom dyno tune is worth all the time and money in the world

I know what meth is a big topic for everyone here so we will be doing some testing but it may prove to not be worth the time and money as we have found with the Cobras, which my thoughts were again confirmed yesterday
