first to go?

so if u go with more then 300hp on our cars what is the first thing that u are gonna blow? is it gonna be the piston rings and the valve train or somethin else? also on different forums i notice different hp ratings for different parts like the pistons rods and crank. does anyone have a safe number for these parts? also what is a site were i can find parts like pistons rods crand and valve train parts?

^ I will be there really soon with my turbo kit. Oh well if the pistons go I have a brand new set of Diamond racing pistons waiting.

axles, clutch/flywheel. Those are the two weak links I know of so far. grab stage II axles and get a exedy clutch/flywheel set up and your golden for 400- whp. That is assuming you can reach 400- whp without boosting to high. I don't think the LSJ is safe boosting over 19-20psi. You could prolly make 350+ whp with a very efficent turbo setup and only have to worry about axles, clutch, and possibly head gasket.

GM only rates the second ring land of the pistons to ~310hp, there is your first engine weak link and you'll have a slipping clutch and ready-to-snap axles with that much power as well.

It really depends on a lot of factors. A bad tune or driver can ruin anything fast with more power. I believe short of injectors most of our stock parts are good to 350 without excessive abuse. My bet would be axles. They are weak. I baby my car and the force at 260 is already wearing them a lot. A bad driver would likely destory the clutch first.

here you go all your parts and specifications. If they aren't in the book reference the part number and read the description for them. http://tunersource.gmblogs.com/Racer-Tech
