What do you mean by "pops"? This is a hard car to learn 5 speed on.

think of driving stick like being with a woman. Be nice and slow, not abusive, and you will be rewarded handsomely.

I think he means it pops out of third and 5th.... common for this car.... You will learn the feel. Mine did that all the time now it never does. This car is much different than any stick I have ever driven. It will take some time to figure it out. For a little while granny shift. Make sure the clutch is all the way down and the stick hits the wall in whatever gear it is in.

My advice go find a rental with a stick.. check out uglyduckling car rental or something like that. Trash it out learn a stick then learn this one.

I have some expirience with a stick and this one was still a new beast going into first.

I've been driving stick all my life and I learned this tranny on the way home from the dealership. Clutch is a little touchy, but other than that is a nice set-up

I have been driving stick since I was 16 (on some beat up trucks with rough transmissions i might add) and the 2.0 LSJ is a tough manual to get use to. I must say that my '06 SS/SC is much more friendly than my '04 Ion Redline was. 1st gear was next to impossible to be smooth with on my redline. Much more manageable with the SS/SC.

I had limited experience on a stick, maybe 5 or 6 times driving one ever and I didn't think this car was too bad. I'm still having issues balancing on hills but am getting it slowly. I do agree it is kind of wierd and certainly give you some nice bumps and jolts sometimes.

Just be really slow bringing the clutch peddle up for 1st and 2nd gear as that is still a minor point in my shift (between first and 2nd sometimes gets rough)

I had never driven a stick before I bought this car. It took me about a week to really feel comfortable driving around. I never experienced the stick popping out of gear though.

Yea Im planning on getting the SS/SC in several months and letting my rents take over the payments on my auto LT, I have barely driven stick and I suck at it (almost fried the clutch on a busy boulevard in New York while driving a Saab 9-2X for the dealership I work for, lol) Its all practice, and lord knows I still need a shitload of it. I feel ya man.
