Future Engine Build
Future Engine Build
Well recently I've been piecing together an engine build, slowly but surely. I drove up to Michigan and picked up a short block from 06silverG85, for free.
Bought a valve cover from sunburtSS and contacted mongo about a bare head, which he found for me the same day at a great price! Also have a GMPP upgraded clutch, zzp upgraded axels and rotated mounts. Unfortunately for you guys, since I know you love build threads so much, is that I'm leaving for the army toward the end of May so it might be awhile before the build starts :/ I'm going to Benning for basic and Gordon for AIT (MOS is 25S). I've been trying to acquire most of the parts I need so when I get back I can jump right into it. I'll probably end up buying a bunch of parts online while in AIT and have them shipped to my dads (where the engine will be).
Build plans are:
Have the block sleeved by Mr. B, with JE pistons, zzp 4340 rods, head ported and polished (possibly by lsjion), ARP head studs, zzp stage 2 turbo cams, zzp 82# valve springs, neutral balance shafts, deluxe timing kit from CED, ATI under drive damper, obviously all new gaskets, bearings and bolts, new rockers and "lash adjusters", machined front cover, gen 2 oil squirters, BRFPS, AEM e85 fuel pump, and zzp 256et turbo kit (maybe 252et bc retarded fast spool) with 80#ers (which I'll probably sell and buy some ID 1000s) & zzp's full 3 inch exhaust. As for a tune I have yet to decide (I'm thinking armcclure), I'm willing to make a little trip for a real good tune since I'm going big. Also going to keep AC because of ridiculous humidity during summers here in good ole OH. If anyone can think of anything I'm missing please don't hesitate to say hey dumb ass don't forget this..
And as for my tranny, like 574 said ill just be sending up prayers for it
I've read through c130 and 574's build threads multiple times, I've read infra's too and they're very helpful, gives me something to go off of. Feel free to add insight before I start it all. If you're selling any of these parts lemme know, throw possible ideas in, whatever... I'm open to ideas. Here's what I've got now
how it got home

and the rest

yeah the whole tranny thing kinda sucks. Never really looked into precisions too much but I see a ton of people running them
I don't have a ton of miles on my 252et yet but I love it. The spool time is quick and a blast. Not going to break records with it but it's a great streetable turbo.
Running a Gen 1 or 2 block, Mr.B sleeves are definitely the way to go.

If I could get 400whp out of the 252 that would be perfect. Enough to shut people up around here coming from a 4 banger
This sounds like a great build! Might as well put titanium retainers on that list! I have the AEM e85 pump and zzp rewire, I love it. Thing puts out alot of fuel pressure. The way your build looks you might also want to build your own intercooler pipes. Idk if zzp will be large enough? Someone chime in and help. I used 3" piping...

I have not. My motor is brand new and I justed installed this set up so I'm still breaking it in. From the few LSJ dyno's I've found with the 252et, around 23 psi on a stock motor and pump gas will net you in the 400whp area.
