hey guys, this may sound kind of dumb, but I just bought an '06 ss s/c. my dealer told me it had the g85 package with the limited slip diff..... however i don't see it on the sticker that is usually found on the window. the mechanical features are: 2.0L DOHC s/c 4cyl, 5 speed with short throw shifter with 4.05 axle, speed sens steering, and perf handling suspension....

for the options installed by the manuf., only sunroof and xm satellite is listed. would the g85 show up on this page? How can i tell if i have it, and i didn't get ripped off. let me know...thanks.

 

Yeah it should say under the options list on the right side of the sticker "Performance Package" then it will list the Recaros and LSD under that. The cost for it should be 1500. I went to a dealer and they tried pulling the samething on me saying it was fully loaded with g85. I went to sit down in it and there were no recaros. Needless to say I left that place.

 

If you have the Recaro seats you have G85. If not you dont.

 

i have red and black seats...they say ss, but not recaro...holy **** i am gonna be pissed if i didn't get g85 when i was told TWICE that i did....

I would be pissed also. Not to be rude but you gotta do the research. Alot of salesmen are just that salesman. Alot of new car dealers arent really car enthusiasts so they really dont know or care. I guess you could tell them you want $1500 hundred knocked of the price. Thats what the option costs.

 

yea, your screwed you can go talk to your dealer see if you can force them to install one, or switch your car for a G85 one, but you will pay more for it :'(

Its your word against his though. They will just say that he never said that. Or they will say that you got confused when they really told it DIDNT come with g85. Touch case at your hands.

 

How seriose are you about racing is a better question?

 

depends on you. I dont think its that big of a diff. helps on traction a bit, but you could make that up by putting in torque brace, strut bar, control arm bushings, engine mount. Probably even save money too.

 

i'm not that much into racing.... however i might like to do a few quick runs here and there

 

My 2006, I ordered it with G85 package, and below you can see the window sticker, and the G85 is just listed as " performance package "

Also, if you pop the hood and peek around by the engine on the driver's side you should be able to spot a label that says " LSD " (tomorrow I may see if I can snap a picture of that), then you can see that it is physically installed on the vehicle. Of course the Recaro seats are easy to notice wether you have them or not hehe so since those arent there.. you would appear to definitely not have the G85 package.

now, for what to do about it, I would definitely make sure they didn't charge you the $1500 that the G85 costs, and if they did charge you then of course point out that they are lying thieves and make sure they refund you the $1500.. or have them get you one that actually has the G85.
in my opinion even the Recaro seats alone are huge benefit. Every other car I drive/ride in since just feels like crap compared to my lovely Recaros

 

I wouldnt worry about it then. If you like the seats dont sweat it.

None of those parts can make up for the lack of an lsd, as a matter of fact nothing can except an actual lsd. The lsd is what lets you enter and exit a corner while on the throttle without destroying your inside tire causing you to go nowhere. Every time I take a hard corner I regret not waiting for the package. It is an extremely import componant for a car like ours.


Sorry dude, your saleman ripped you off. Typical car sales at work.

 

Even if you like the seats you really should go back and explain the situation. Just tell them you really don't mind the fact that you don't have the G85, you are satisfied, but you should get something back for them lying to you. They might give you 1500 back or they might give some type of service.

You gotta figure all this **** out on paper. You signed the dotted line without knowing for sure what you were buying obviously. If it is on the bill of sale and you paid for it then it is a different story.

Another thing.....Why in the world did you take delivery when the Recaro's weren't there. Did you even check to see what they looked like before you bought the car?

I am not trying to be rude, but you shouldn't go into a dealership blind or your just asking t be screwed over. I sat my saleperson down and told them everything. I even have to tell them what size tires I needed for the winter rims that they gave me.

 

it comes down to this.

go back to the dealer and give them hell... regardless of whether you paid for the g85 package or not. thats just not right and if u threaten them enough you might get your way. it's not going to hurt.

you did not get the package... but you've figured that out already.

@ the above post--- if he just went to the dealership and bought the car (like i did), the car was never ordered. i bought mine right off of the showroom floor. never saw the car b4. fortunately, i know cars and i knew about the ss/sc for a while. i knew i wasnt getting the package and made sure the dealer was informed.

That sucks if you got charged for it, but if not oh well. You will only benefit from the LSD if you are doing road racing, not the 1/4 mile. It's not a 50/50 LSD.

Hopefully they got your financing right. My dealer told us that they would finance through my credit union, and showed me a print out of my credit union's rates. Then they said I would be the primary and my Dad would be the co-signer. Well, a month later the paper work for my loan came in and it was through another bank, same rate as my credit union though, and my Dad was the primary and I was the co-signer. I'm paying for this car, but I'm not gaining all the credit history and points for it. I get a portion of them and my Dad gets the full thing!
