G85...Worth It or Not
G85...Worth It or Not
$1500 is a lot of money but how much does the LSD help all around? Is it true that it helps acceleration all the time and how much will it help me to not skid out of control on ice or snow? What about the Recardo seats...how much better are they than the standard SS leather seats? Thanks...
When it comes to a car like this, get the LSD. You obviously care about performance because your getting a SS/SC and not a base, so just fork out the extra for the LSD. Its much more expensive to go aftermarket with one of those.
The recaro seats are really comfortable, but im only 17 so just about everythings comfortable to me. The limited slip is awesome you can go through corners at almost full throttle with virtually no wheel spin.

Can someone please compare the Recaro seats to the stock SS ones if you've sat in both?
I will definitely be getting the G85 package tho

It is 100% worth it. The Recaro's are sweet. Now that the weather is warmer and my car has some miles on it I have been playing with the LSD, works great. You can go through a tight turn and hammer it half way through and it feels like the car is being pulled by a sling-shot.
Has anyone went to the dealer find out how much it would run for them to order the G85 package and install it on a SS/SC that doesnt have it? I would imagine it would cost about 5K from what people have told me the recaros cost. Just wondering if anyone got a solid number from a dealer.
The Recaro seats tend to hold you in place better because they have sides to them where the standard dont. I almost didnt get the G85 package but I am glad that I did 100% worth the money spent.
I would get the package, if you don't want the recaros, I'm pretty sure many people would be willing to trade for the regular seats. I didn't have the G85 package, and I loved my seats, but I wanted the lsd. When I took off a WOT my card would leave one tire patch. That sucked. I think the LSD would aslo help w/ torque steer too. Not sure about that though.
I sat in the recardo's and hated them. Wheres the lumbar support! no puffey cusion for my back! From the seat where your ass goes to the top of the head support its as straight as chuck norris. plus with the regular SS seats you can get them color trimed and that looks beautiful. However if they offered the SS/SC with just the LSD as a standalone option that would be awsome. Because the LSD is the only reason i would ever get the G85.
G85 Is Worth It
Quaife ATB Limited Slip Diff = $1500
Installation at a competent trans shop = 8 hours labor
Recaro Seats = $1200 to 1300
I ordered the SS/SC because of the Quaife, as I already had a RSM Supercharged Cavalier without a limited slip diff and have learned "how sweet it is" through trial and error.
I also ordered when I did because Quaife has a history of standing by their guns and will not cut corners to get a contract. This means a manufacturer may bow out when demand levels out. (Ford, for example, with the SVO.s.) I wanted the Quaife and did not want to take a chance that GM would stop offering it.
Finally, when I ordered I planned to swap the Recaro's for the regular SS seats, but I have found I love the Recaro's tho I do miss the memory for the passenger seat and the memory for power seats/mirrors, which aren't available for this car anyways. The Recaro seats work well for me (average build) as well as for my son (6'4'' 280lbs) and I am happy GM went that route. -- laborsmith

I only sat in one for a few min, didn't exactly like the recaros. (No SS/SC available when I purchased mine, except for mine).
But I figure i'd get used to them. I'm just interested in straight line at the moment, if you can really tell a difference, I think i'll have to pick them up.
