Exclamation Gauging Interest on a Throttle Bodies

Hey guys, just trying to figure out what interest there is in throttle bodies. What would you be willing to pay and would you be interest in a machined throttle body that can produce 5-10whp gains with an intake and pulley...

I have a company that might be interested in looking into it but as always, they want to make sure there is market for it.

DON'T FORGET TO VOTE AND TO POST WHAT YOU WOULD BE WILLING TO PAY, REALISTICALLY, NO JOKES.

I would definately buy one if it had those gains. The sms tb is only like a 3mm increase and there aren't much gains to see from there. However, if this tb can produce more than 5whp, and be in a good price range, i'm in.

Edit: Ooops, i forgot to say what I would pay.. I would pay around $200. I don't know how much other tb's go for...I know the sms one for the cobalt/redline is $150 with core and I belive $300 if you don't send your old on in.

I'd personally be willing to pay $150-200 after the core charge depending on the gains.

It would depend on the price of course, but I would probably be interested.

Again though, Price VS. gains is going to be a factor in deciding.

CORRECTION: Here is part of an email from the guy who would be doing the throttle bodies:

"These will not be ported stock throttle bodies. Our T/B will be brand new CNC machined billet aluminum, no core exchange."

SO...this means nice shiny free flowing TB...yummm

This of course would change the price but I'd be willing to pay more for this than what I intended. They specialize in doing them on cobra's and lightning's.

I don't see how they expect to ge 5-10HP from a throttle body, they can only make the opening as big as the inlet of the supercharger, before it's just a wast of time.
and the stock one is already pretty close.

but if they made those kinda gains I'd buy it

Might be running into a problem. It appears the electronics, due to us not having our TBs controlled by wire, are stamped on the TB rather well where it would be difficult to ship them out, being the CNC TB and get the stock electronics back on there.

If anyone has a solution to this, please let me know.

I'de be willing to pay upwards of $350 for 5-10 ponies. After all that is what some companies charge for a Stage 2 TB for other cars.

Dremel tool?? Your obviously very uninformed.

Inside your TB there is a butterfly plate. At idle that butterfly plate is closed and NO air gets past it. When you open the throttle and the air goes in, and what happens? The engine revs. Now, do you think that you can be so precise with your dremel too that you can bore out the TB and make a new butterfly plate so will fit your TB 100% so that NO air gets past it when the plate is closed? Boreing a TB is much like boreing out a cylinder, you need very precise machinery to do this.

P.S. I am VERY interested in a CNC TB! Price should be around or below $250 USD

Okay, well I talked with WopOnTour, pretty much the most knowledgable guy when it comes to LSJs and it seems it can't be done.

With the electronics and everything it makes it impossible to build a whole new one and make it work out right...guess we're stock using dremmel tools and getting that smoothed out.
