Thumbs down GM Dealership is Dealershit

So about a month and a half ago i get into an accident, i know i know wtf eh? But nothing to serious i hit black ice turning a corner and hit a curb. The damage the vehicle was kinda minimal, it wrecked the spindle, and control arm, and bashed the rim up pretty bad. So i get towed to my insurance company they give an estimate and i take to Murray GM. This would have been on December 10th they say a week for the rim to be repaired and the other parts they had, so i also told them to repalce the strut, hub, bearing, while they were at it. A week goes by and I call them up, "Is the car done?" "No, Rims not in should be back beginning of the week" "Oh ok great". So i wait the weekend so its the 17th call back, "Car done?" "No i got bad news the rim we sent in looks pretty bad still... we will need to send it back again" ........." Ok how about a rental then? Christmas is coming up and i kinda have plans and you told me this would be done...." "Nope cant do that cant get you one" ".....umm oki thanks?" and i hung up. Called back the next week this would be like just after Christmas i think it was the 29th "What have you heard?" "Oh nothing yet...." "K i want rental car now this bs i better have one when im done work at 5" (alot more was said there is just shorted that) hung up got a call back 2 min later "rental will be ready you just have to pick it up" So i get my rental. Long story short i got my car back yesturday.... so from December 10th to January 13th... thought opinions, cuz right now im really considering never buying a GM product again.. worst service EVER.....

Go to different dealership. Mine will fix almost anything and I have bought 10 cars from the same salesman. He hooks me up everytime and makes sure my service is perfect.

Just don't take your car to the dealer for those kind of repairs.

GM makes a half decent car. Dealerships always seem to **** it up.

service has nothing to do about the quality of a car, nor its general operation standards...

Dealerships just dont care, that one anyway..

Find one that does dude.

if you read his post, its not the dealers fault, it whoever they sent the rim out to. The only thing is the rental, if you were even entitled to one, if it was near christmas, they are harder to come by.

I work at a dealership in MO and if someone did that to you they would be fired so fast , we provide anyone with a rental car that has work done , even if we gotta run to enterprise to get one ourselves....you just need a diff dealership.

My main issue was the renal car, going almost 2 weeks without one then till after Christmas to have was a down side. Im not saying that GM makes shitty cars. But when i buy a car i want the assurance that when i take it in for work that it isnt going to take a month to fix something that should only have taken a week. Any other place would have just replaced the rim after it came back the first time because that is good customer service.....

replacing the rim is up to your insurance company, if they wont pay for a new rim, the dealer isnt going to get one for you, your real beef should be with your insurance agent for being cheap, im sure they probably used junkyard parts too, if availible.

with all the time and trouble you went through...why didn't you just buy another rim...???how old was the car...???did your insurance cover any of it...and for the most part rental cars are not just handed out...and FYI the dealership does not fix rims...it was sent out...and with ppl at these places working are gone for holidays etc...its just a bad time to get things done...your car was fixed and you did get it back...don't ever get home reno done if you think that is bad service...you will blow your brains out over the contracters...lmao...oh yes your house will be done in March and then August then December...then you might get in March of the following year...so just cool it...its not the dealerships fault...and you didn't say what province you live in...if its AB...good luck getting anything done...try calling a plumber to fix anything...LMFAO

again FYI...GM is a business...yes they want to make you happy but they also have to make money...they are not going to hand out new parts just to keep you happy...agreed talk to your insurance co...they are the ones paying...

you can blame your insurance company for the rental not being in place, half of your problems... you should of had one of those from the get go(if you have that coverage)

^^ seems to be the only one who actually read that your not pissed about your rim.. lol..

Yea dude your insurance company should have done something... I think the first time was your goof for not getting one from the insurance company.

You got the car in the end because they goofed on something else.

I live in SK... So were SGI, its just an estimate if, something needs to be added to the claim or if say the rim was unrepairable which it pretty much was still doesn't look all that great, then they have the full right to just add it to the claim. For instance the rental.. that was added to my claim, went from 1700 to like 3000. and living in AB is your fault how can you compare a car dealership to contracters... 2 separate things, especially when you live in a growing province. and regardless ether is the dealerships fault or not its my first point of contact. If you bought a new TV and the didn't work and you bought it from say Visions guess who your yelling at? Not the TV manufactures but the place you bought it from. Dont tell me to be coo...l try putting yourself in my shoes....

This is true, but that is the dealer's fault, because they should use repeutable repair facilities, since ultimately the dealer is responsible.

For example, I work for a Tier 1 supplier to the Big 3 and some foriegn automakers. If the ABS control unit that we supply takes a **** on your chevrolet vehicle, you are going to be pissed at GM for building a bad car, when in reality GM had very little to do with the design and manufacture of the part. But it is their responsiblity to make sure that the parts they are putting in a vehicle with thier name on it is up to par.

The dealership in this case should have been a little more concerned with how the shop THEY contrtaced is conducting business that may shine a bad light on the dealership.

You wrecked the car...
You picked the dealership...

Your fault, not GM's. So are you saying you would have been more happy if they just put a **** wheel on your car instead of getting it right?

No but if you bought something and it was defective do you want it repaired or do you want a new one? I think what your missing is that Im venting because customer care and customer service is garbage. It was only after i bitched and whined to get a rental car that i got it. Why is it that you have to be a bitchy person to get good service? again going back to what i said put yourself in my shoes.... because they choose a shitty rim repair shop, i had to cancel my Christmas plan i worked around a car dealership. Its suppose to go the other way around they suppose to work around you..

Most places should give you a rental car if your car is not back to you the same day that they started work. PLUS you should make sure to ask for one right off the beginning, that way you are taking the lead on the issue instead of waiting two weeks just before the holidays and trying to get a car.

I think the dealership should have been a little better on getting you the car quicker. As for getting the car back, it is kind of easy to see why it took so long because of the holidays and basically most places go to minimum staffing over the two weeks around Christmas and New Years.

It sucks what happened, but now you know not to crash in the winter around Christmas. And also not to go to that dealership anymore!

That's on your insurance, not on the dealership. They probably ate the cost on the rental because it took so long. I'm willing to bet the reason why you didn't initially get one is you either didn't have rental coverage on your policy or because insurance said no, no rental.
