i guess im trying to understand why everybody is going with the stage 2?

why are people not just buying the stage 1 for alot less money and then buying a 3" pulley seperatly?

People aren't buying the 3" pulley seperately because you still need a reflash after the pulley is installed so people are buying stage 2 to get everything done at once with a warranty.

buy stage 1 and pick up your own 3" pulley.. then take it to the dealership for installment.. i dont see how this negates a warrenty..

Does anyone know how crate engine depot is distributing the kits ? They are selling it for 100 dollars less.... my question is are they going to send the new flash file on a cd and then you take it to the dealer for the flash ?

It negates the warranty because it's not a GM pulley. Plus you know car companies, they have guidlines that have to be followed strictly to conform with the warranties. That's all. If you can pull it off let everyone know so they can save some money. Thanks

everybody should buy the stage 2 that way it ***** up the tranny.. then GM will have to do a recall on the trannies for the lack of strength it can hold and at the same time they will prolly have to change the mounts..

mm.. recall heaven waiting to happen

My feeling about the transmission is this.... the the tranny is fine... the clutch is the weak spot... If you don't hammer it and slip the clutch all the time then your stock clutch will probably be could for at least another year..... we will see..... i am getting the kit and then if the clutch goes so be it I guess a spec stg2 will be next.

Just called GM Perf Parts and they were like your numbers are bad...

Then he proceeded to tell me I was wasting my money because the car already includes a smaller pulley and heavy duty injectors...

At which point I replied... WTF... (not really)

I said The pulley decreases by about 1/3 of an inch and the injectors increase another 5 or so lb/s.

To which HE replied.... NO (seriously)

He said its not in his cobalt build book and I didn't know what I was talking about then proceeded to tell me to come down to his store and he would show me how to get a 400hp cobalt with a s/c cams etc etc...

I told him i ALREADY HAD a S/C he goes ohh... I don't know then.

What a dipshit that guy is. You should go down just to show him where to find these parts I had to do this for a parts guy here in Maple Ridge but he was nearing retirement so he had an excuse.

As for the clutch. I am ordering my clutch\flywheel now and that way the wife can kill it (the stock one) as she learns to drive my car. This way she agrees to pay half for the clutch

One thing im wondering is how much with the kit bring down our gas milage. The car says 19/29 but i get about 23-25. I dont want to be rolling around getting like 19. But i guess were going to have to wait til people get theres and tell us.

Hmm...shouldn't be too bad...i'd guess 17-20 mpg depending on how/where you drive. But seriously...you have to come to terms with it. There's no way of getting significant gains with F/I without hurting gas mileage a bit.
