GM Stage 2 Facts

Some miscellaneous truths about GM Stage 2 now that i have it installed.

- 269$ for install from dealer (this includes a supercharger gasket not included with my Crate Engine Depot shipment).

- After install, the guy at the parts department mentioned that my I would notice a slightly louder whine than before but mentioned nothing about my intake making me think they didn't notice my AEM.

- My original 12.5 peak PSI went to 15PSI.

- Pulls much harder all the way through the powerband.

- 2nd gear's rev limit comes up quick, and so does 70mph.

Is a new gasket really needed? I thought you just reused the exisiting one.

They said for them to do it they would need to replace the old one. I wasn't going to argue because it was still under 300$. At first they wanted almost 400 until i talked them down to just under 270. I was pleased with that as they are typically really good about warranty stuff. My family has bought 6 cars in the past 5 years from them.

Well known by some. The increase to 15psi isn't as easy to come by as the others as I was getting mixed results and its a bit harder to search for. I was mainly just doing this as an informative thing for anyone interested with my personal experience.

Also I didn't hear a thing about needing a supercharger gasket replacement prior to my own service.

The dealer I went to, reused the old gasket, and I paid $185 for install.

Originally I called and got a quote for a stage 2 kit install, told them I already had the parts and asked about scheduling it along with some warranty work I needed done to replace my sunroof bezel/switch. They set it up and then called back later telling me they would need a gasket to complete install, and that it was going to run me about 380 or 390 something after tax. I said really?, questioned it, mentioned that it should only take about 1.5 to 2.5 hours and that I have read up and know of hundreds of people that have spoken about getting it done at around 200-300$. I then told them to hold on the kit install and that Im going to call a dealer closer to me about an installation quote ebcause I know i can get it done for less, he said he understood.

So I call a dealer about 3 minutes from my house, and request a quote in which they say they will get back to me in an hour after the tech that did the last one gets back from lunch (and quoted me 260$ for).

2 hours later I get a call from my original dealer saying that they can do it for 269$ after parts and labor. I say ok and mention that i don't mind working with them if they can give me honest rates. Happy ending.

No you don't get any tuning software but yes, they do the tune there at the dealer. It's part of the reflash that enables the 7000rpm rev limit.

How much did you pay for the Stage 2 kit from CED if you don't mind me asking? I was hoping on getting this done in a couple of months along with a manifold and exhaust upgrade to GMPP Sport/Performance.

I ordered it in early or Mid March for 560$ after shipping however they were out of stock and waiting until april to ship. It shipped early to me a little before April. I want to say they recently raised their prices however.

Edit: Yeah they raised the price to 637.50 plus shipping

The gasket doesn't come with the kit... if they have problems getting the old gasket off then you will have to replace it... that happend to me too!

I got mine installed for $40, but that was only because I worked there, and I like the tech, so I didn't want to screw him over.
