GM Stage 3 Pulley

I have an 06 ss/sc GM Stage 2 with an AEM cold air intake. I installed my GM stage 3 pulley last night. Took me about 20 minutes. It does make a difference. Small, but noticeable.

I now have 16.5 lbs of boost as opposed to 15. That is not where the noticeable gain is though. It is just that it gets to maximum boost a lot faster. I guess what I am really saying is that it is more of a torque gain then it is horsepower gain. I love it though.

Wonder if I am the first one to have a GM stage 3 pulley installed??

Well I have had a 2.9" pulley on my GM hub for a while now. Yes you can notice a difference and 16.5 is what I see for boost as well. The 2.9 works well with the 42lb. injectors.
Congrats mang. Have fun with it. Stage 3 PCM in your future?

Good to hear some feedback, especially positive feedback. Have fun with it man. Are you doing a complete Stage 3 upgrade or just the pulley?

Surprising to hear about there being that much of a boost increase. Good to hear you like it. That's what counts.

I am not going to install the entire stage 3 kit anytime soon. It is really only useful if you plan on track racing it regularly, using 100+ octane fuel and running nitrous. My car is a daily driver so I do not want to go that far. I will put the dual pass intercooler on though. Not anytime soon, but probably within the next year. The intecooler is a valualbe add on since it lowers coolant temps by about 20-25 degrees. Never hurts to do something that will cause less wear and tear on your motor.

Well from what I hear the gm stage 3 pulley is more like 3.1" and 2.9's tend to run a tad small. So in the end yeah it makes a difference. Quicker boost and a little more of it. Helps the torque the most.

Remember guys we don't quite see 16.5 untill about 6,500-7,000rpm. But yeah near redline I see 16.5psi Maybe a C-Hair under if that.

Going from a 3" to a 2.9" is worth about 5whp and 7wtq. Not too bad. So I payed $55.00 for about 5whp/7wtq and quicker boosting.

Excellent man, i actually plan on getting the GM stage 3 pulley and intercooler and forgetting about the PCM.

But i have a question. Did the stage 3 pulley come with new bolts and tool? Or did you have to use the old tool? Because my dealership probably lost the tool knowing them.

Call them up and tell them you want em' back! That's what I did. I told them I didn't care who took them and why, but I was coming back in a week and they better have them. Whelp, they definately had them when I went back.

You must re-use the bolts that came with the stage 2 kit. I got my old pulley, belt, fuel injectors, and tools back. You must have the tools that came with the Stage 2 kit. Fortunately I kept mine.

Is it possible to buy the tools separate from the kit?

Probably, but why buy them when they came with the kit. That dealer had no right to not return those parts to you after installation. If they don't still have them, they better be ordering replacement pieces. What happens if you move and have to take the car in for service that requires removing the pulley at another dealership? Point is, they don't own those parts, you do, so they should give them back...

Absolutely not. I have had a few people try to get them from me via the Chevy dealer. They are only sold with the kit.

Since you are so close to me, you can borrow mine.

I'm sure there will be a technician there that has them in his toolbox, but they won't tell you that.

Yeah, that will **** me off though. I'd hate to have to run it up to the service manager over these pieces that probably dont cost $10 by themselves

Scoreboard me! I'm gettin them back, but its kind of sad that you have to ask, twice.
