No problems so far. The extra torque is worth it alone.

Stage 2 gas mileage is quite a bit worse than stock. For one, bigger injectors, and secondly...a heavier foot, lol.
In my case stage 2 is less reliable because of the richness. I'm changing out fouled plugs every 3-5k miles. The dealer won't do anything about it, cause they can't - and won't - change the stage 2 tune without just removing staage 2 completely. My car hates the richness. It makes cold starts harder, and cold acceleration of ANY form, mild or not, just will not happen. |

when you pay 480 for kit + install and got 1mpg more you dont care about anything else
|
I would like to look at having a stage 2 put on my SS, how much would it cost in the USA?
|
crateenginedepot.com then labor is whatever the going rate is in your area
|
I checked with my dealer about getting the stage 2, parts and labor between $800 and $900 hows that sound to you guyz? Good or should I check around
|
I purchased my Stage II from www.cobalt-addiction.com for about 600$ CAD, installed my own injectors (via instructions form how-to section of this site) and was billed 1 hour for stage 1-2 install. So I did the whole job for 700$.
Ontario did you buy that badge from 24designs? |
I Love My Stage 2:cssNET:
I'm Very Satisfied With The Performance And Major Power Too:guns: Plus I Installed It Myself,i Don't Anyone In My Town That Has Done That:lol::twothumbs:cssNET::lol: |
Then you're the only one in town with a 1 year warranty instead of 3 lol.
I installed my own injectors, and let GM do the pulley/belt and still get the 3 year warranty. Plus, berto didn't you have to go to gM for ECU anyway? |
i paid 400 bucks for my kit from 1fastlittlecar off of ebay (great seller btw) and 230 for the install...although 900 straight from the dealer seems decent, but id just order the kit if available threw him off of ebay to save a lil cash.
|
were they legit GM parts? If so nice find!!
|
yes it was the full gm stage 2 kit brand new in a sealed box with the instruction booklet and reflash code for the dealer. this guy has sold to mutlitple people on cobaltss.net....the only thing is sometimes he has the kits and sometimes he doesnt...just gotta be there at the right time.
|
^^^ Yea, he also got in trouble for selling the kits because they were supposedly stolen ones
|
Where would i get one of these kits?
|
Im getting A little confused here. I am buying a stage 4 kit from cobalt-addiction.com. I am putting it in my self. I rebuild 1960's cameros, and fire birds. this is my first techy car, that uses a computer for many things. Now is this stage 4 going to work if i put it in myself. or am i gonna have to get the computer flashed? or can i put it in myself and then take it some where to get it flashed?
thank you |

My mileage went UP from 27 to 32 after having Stage 2 installed on my 06.
|
Gas mileage went from 31 to 27 when i instaled mine :(
|
my gas went down also. The reliability is great. GM will warranty mine for another 98000miles. hehe
|
stages?
i have a few questions with the stages. if you get stage 2, with comes with the stage 2 and stage 1. what about the stage 3??what does that include? now in regards to warrenty, what if i do it at my shop with my licenced guy and have all the paper work for doing the work??
if anyone can help me out with that, that would be great! also, in meadowvale mississauga where are the meets and when do they usually happen??? thanks again, Chris |
Stage upgrade also fixes some reliability issues in the new tunes. (Although as already mentioned it tends to run rich)
That is your best shot at selling your dad. BTW, 2.9 on a stock tune isn't the best idea to start with. You'd be much better with the Stage 2 running a 2.9. Also, you could go with bigger injectors and HPTuners for less money. But keeping the warranty you'd be better with a dealer installed Stage 2. But, they may object to warranty stuff even so (depending on dealer), with the 2.9 on it. Stock is quite a bit bigger and the Stage 2 pulley is a little bigger. |
10K miles on my stage 2 and not one issue due to the kit .
|
Thanks for the input guys I didn't know this thread was still alive much less stickey'd.
I went ahead and said screw it and took a day off from work and had a local dealer install it. Have had it for a little over a month now and already went Nate's 2.9. I love this car all over again! |

Whoever stickied this thread should be shot because the title of this thread is illogical.
In the words of "PINKS" Please, read carefully: STOCK IS ALWAYS MORE RELIABLE THAN ANYTHING ELSE YOU DO TO YOUR CAR. It doesn't matter what you do to your car. If you want it to be absolutely reliable, leave it alone. I found out the hard way by melting my #4 piston on a 2.5 inch pulley. Just my .02 -Vincent. |
2.5 pulley is asking for trouble. Your spinning the shit out of the eaton........You better have some major cooling mods or you can say goodbye to #4
|
Stage 2 will be in the mail in 2 days......can't wait >.<
|
does anyone know if lightning force injectors are good quality injectors?
|
V-man is a tard
|
You guys are talking about 27-32 mpg? Wtf is wrong with mine? Haha I'm getting 21 stock. Wtf is going on here....

Just my .02 -Vincent. and as far as MPG i was not known for a light foot but i saw an increase once i went stage 2.(275+MPG on usually 10 gallon's cause id all ways keep that 2 gallon reserve and then some and some time's all most 400 on a purely highway trip) but my problem was the dumb ass saturn tech's that didnt know how to work on a LSJ in a saturn and the local chevy dealer hasnt dealt with the SS/SC really at all.. so after 4k miles on stage 2 with bolt on's i was pushing 19 lb's of boost and had a bad misfire. which mean's it was clogged cat/fried PCM. or both. and since niether GMPP dealer had dealt with it my car sat for over a month at the dealer.. and still didnt run right |
I installed mine with 8,000 miles on it and now have 60,000 + with no problems at all.
|
My fuel mileage got horrible with stage 2 compared to stock, but I'm also running pig freaking rich with the crappy Gm tune...I was getting close to 37mpg stock at times, now the highest I've seen on the highway is about 32.
I foul my plugs all the time, even fouled them once so badly the car wouldn't even start. So aside from the tune, its ok. |
pretty rich tune. egts are high i would not suggest high speed runs back to back and so on
