GMPP Numbers - Exhaust & Manifold
GMPP Numbers - Exhaust & Manifold
I am an engineer here in Detroit and my father is in the advanced development group at GM. He is currently working with the company that is building GM's new race Cobalt SS and testing a lot of the GMPP for the Cobalt SS/SC. He was at their facility yesterday and was talking to their lead engineer about my car and the mods that I have done and am thinking about doing. He told my dad that the GMPP performance exhaust was built by Corsa and in their testing have seen an 8hp gain at the wheels. The exhaust manifold had also been tested and provided a 6hp gain at the wheels. He also warned that if the car exeeded the 300hp point, it would be unsafe to run with the stock wheels/tires. He recommended that wider wheels (9") be placed on the Balt for stability. They are currenlty testing the Stage III kit for GM, but no details were given about the numbers. He will be going back there next week and I will be sure to give him a list of questions to ask them.

This may just may be me... but why would gm have a "Touring" exhaust? Doesn't that sound familiar to the Corsa Touring exhaust..?

GMPP offers a Corsa, but it is called a Corsa. Borla makes the GMPP cat-back 17802111 and 17802110, check out the lower right corner it says "Borla Performance Industries". And thanks, I've given this forum real dyno numbers for this and a few other mods (Click this)

I am going by what I have been told from the shop who is working on the Cobalt right now. I stand corrected that the information I received was incorrect regarding the manufacturer, but the numbers are correct. The information I received was second hand. Maybe he thought I have the 3"...I don't know or maybe he was just blowing smoke. I will post the dyno sheets from these runs next week when they get faxed to me.
