Dont forget as you open up both the intake and exhaust air ways the boost will drop.

With an intake you actually gain some boost but with an exhaust you loose some. I still see about 17-18 with my 2.8. Take your car to 6500-7000 Rpm in secong gear wot and let us know. 10 Psi is pretty weak.

What are you getting in kpa? It should read ~100. That is roughly 14.5-15PSI. If you installed the kit yourself have you been to the dealer for the reflash? If the dealer installed it, was it their first time?? Sounds like the new calibration is missing.

Not to change the subject, but I see 17.5 right now. I am adding the GMPP exhaust shortly and headers and a downpipe in the near future. How much of a drop in boost will I see? Does that mean that the performance gains from the exhaust, headers, and downpipe won't be felt due to the loss of boost?

You are right you will gain boost with an intake. Sorry I was mistaken.

When adding an exhaust the air flows better so the amount of boost will drop. You will not see la loss of power unless you put an over sized system on. or do not have the supporting mods

Yes Animalchin has it right. The SC is flowing the same volume of air into the cylinders. It's just not having to force it in as hard with a better exhaust, so boost drops. But your making more power because you have less backpressure.

I was 12 psi stock. K&N Typhoon CAI made little difference, maybe 12.5 or 13. The Stage 2 I am hitting 15 to 15.5 psi.

I have a 3" exhaust. How would this affect my performance?

Look at it this way. You are now letting air out faster and easier. BUt you still have the stock air box. If you get a CAI you will see a nice performance gain. Engine modifications help each other in respech to HP gains. You want to let the engine breath better both in and out. ONly doing one will give you some gains but do both and you will see much better gains. This thread started about Boost #s with the Stage 2 kit. And moved to adding an exhaust or intake and what they would do for your boost. If you added the stae kit to your car you would see less boost then me but you would have higher hp and trq numbers. Haveing higher boost numbers doesnt mean you will always have petter performance over some one with less boost.
Sorry for the long post and hope that helped

I dont know how you all are hitting 12 stock.

I took it out on the highway, I hit 10-11 PSI with gmpp exhaust, jbp cai, and gmpp stage 2...

Stock i was hittin 8 psi.
