Lightbulb Going for exhaust

After reading the threadand seeing the videos of the exhaust that was made by altered atmosphere it made me really jealous. so i decided today that i was going to drive down there and get the 3 catback. i was just wondering if anybody that has got this exhaust has any complaints before i go and throw down $600 on a exhaust that i have never really seen up close or even heard well? I am still debating so i might sleep on it tonight and do it tomorrow not sure ? but the help would be nice.

Make sure you get a silencer, if you want to tone it down sometimes.

Well I got out of work Friday and i flew down to Altered Atmos.. to get the exhaust put on. I am pretty happy with their work. The price was a little steep but the work was excilent. the exhaust sounds nice but it may be a little to loud. they offered me the option to come back and let them put some of the new parts that they are making into my car as a tester and then sell them to me with a huge discount.

I've been interested in Altered Atmosphere...I live within 2 hours so I could drive there also. What kind of catback did you get, how much did it cost and did you have to make an appointment for installation? I checked their website but I can't find **** on it.

i just called them and they told me to stop by. The total cost was $715 for the 3" catback it is stainless steel with a viberant muffler. i had them install the exhaust so that cost $85 extra . It is a little pricey but i feel that it was well worth it..

I wouldn't consider a single 3" exhaust with a fart can priced at $600 well worth it.

Why not wait fo the Borla? They actually test there exhausts and make sure they have a pefect balance of sound/velocity/flow.

I know people are in a hurry to mod but why buy the first thing thrown on the market?

holy ****.. finally someone with some common sense around here.... f'n $600 for a g'damned fart can... come on guys, wise up. $600to $700 absolute max will get you a borla system, possibly even as low as $500 (even if it sounded good, does that company give a 1,000,000 mile warranty on every product they sell?).... jeez guys don't jump the gun on this stuff, and for christ's sake please don't put a fart can on your cobalts.

the stainless material might.. maybe cost $150, then you got a resonator and fart can = $300 max, then $300 for labor? lol and you end up with a car that has mad-weedeater syndrome

amen...Borla's stuff is nice, but I'm still holding out to see what Corsa's system will be like.

yeah.... i don't know why people think fart cans are cool in the first place. **** man, if you're gonna have a fart can get a $15 fart can from ebay because there is absolutely no difference in them, other than the marketing hype from the companies and the emblems they have. they're all new-aged cherry bombs at 200 times the price.

any oval sounds so much better, i just really hope there's a monza exhaust out soon, if not i'll be going with borla. monza = 1/2 the price and nearly the same (not as good, but close) sound as a borla.

Its not the fart can that interests me, its the 3" mandrel bent pipes that are attatched to it. I hate to say it but these cars are just not going to sound that awesome with exhaust. They are going to sound ricerish, it is the nature of having a 4 cylinder.

Oh and Monza=Pacesetter= WTF???

I put a high-flow cat and a dynomax muffler on my girlfriends Sunfire and is is very deep sounding and it uses 2" pipe.

You can make a 4cyl sound decent you just need to use the right exhaust components.

Another thing I hate about the AA Fart-Can is the ricerish blue tinted tip. Nothing like that burned oil on chrome pipe look. They are making a killing on that exhaust.

- $120 max worth the steel do they even use 304?
- $25 for the resonator
- $50-75 for the Fart-Can
- $50 for assorted labor bending/welding

I have never heard an inline 4 that wasn't turboed have a decent sounding exhaust.

I priced out building my own SS cat back and just for 2 u-bends the cost would be $110, throw in some straight pipe and it brings it up a bit more. As far as them making a killing? I bet after labor and parts and various other daily bills associated with running a business that they are only netting 150-200 bucks an exhaust. I mean I know we have some good options like the 700 magnaflow cat back that just came out but I would prefer to save some coin.

A friend of mine has a Civic SI hatch (i think, i know its a honda hatch) He has CompTech exhaust (oval muffler) and it sounds awsome, also looks great. It is real quit at idle and doesnt get raspy no where in the rpm range and has a nice balance of motor-to-exhaust sound at WOT. Has anyone heard anything from CompTECH as whether or not the were going to make anything?

Cost is not a big concern for me. Besides Corsa exhaust systems are manufactured right down the street from my home and I have some pride in the local craftsmanship

that's what people said until they heard the system on my cougar... then they told me it was about the best sounding exhaust they've heard on them. it was a really euro sports car kinda sound.

plus at 1/2 the price of borla, when it rusts you can buy a new one or switch out for a different one. lol
