Why isn't it correct? I thought u just remove the filter and its fine?

Cheaper on ebay? Its 11 bucks for the catch can. Fittings can't be much more than 3 bucks

I was just reading the old how to thread last night... it was a bitch to find with search.... give me a minute to look again....

not sure if it was decided this mod was worth it or not.... I am wondering that also.... was thinking of doing the mod this weekend....

link...?? ... https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/show...ferrerid=18694

I think you would just need the catch can or air line filter, the (2) brass nipple fittings, and the (2) clamps .. ???

Well this idea went out the window till tomorrow. I guess when I was removing the antenna I snapped the bracket rivets or something so I had to pay 50 bucks to get em rewelded on so my antenna stays on and I didn't even get to make it into a shorty! Im done trying to do **** to my car. So I am done modding and done putting money into this car. After seeing everyone put all there money in these cars just isn't worth it to me. Time to start saving to move out. That's more important than making this car fast and blow up.

I just hate knowing I can't even remove a ******* antenna then I have to pay 59.89 to fix it. I don't even want to try and do **** under the hood cuz who knows what ill **** up and have to pay.

if you are not that great at turning a wrench, maybe find a buddy that can?? and for the record... i think your car looks pretty good the way it is.... you have done enough to have your own loook to it.... pretty cool car for a 19 year old I think I read?? When I was 16, maybe 17 I could not even change a tire myself.... I also read you were planning on changing the exhaust?/ I would maybe skip that for now.... notice how many people on here have bought aftermarket exhaust, and then later sold or traded to get the stock exhaust back?? Lots of 'em lately..... maybe save your $ for a while and check out aftermarket rims or something??.... not much point in modding a bunch right before winter here in the midwest anyways.... how much quicker can you go on ice and snow???

Maybe try to paint your brake calipers if you want to try a cheap mod?? If you could match the blue, or maybe silver even...it would look pretty good.....I like the silver painted lower grill inserts on the back....I did something close to that and like it better than the stock look.......

Ya im 19 and thanks man. I have been thinking a lot about the exhaust and im trying to read up on everything about it. I just really wanna get rid of the 2.25 axle back but dunno what kind of muffler to get cuz I want it really quiet and not much louder than stock. Im thinking about doing the catch can tomorrow. As far as aftermarket rims I don't think I will ever do that. I wouldn't mind doing the brake calipers but I don't know what color to do. I think silver wouldn't be a good choice and the blue could be hard to match. Hmm

I can't wait for this winter lol. 4wheel drifting around my girlfriends area on the streets is so fun. I almost killed eachother last year haha. Plus its kinda fun in the balt and plaayin around with the e-brake

You know whats fun to make? Diamond plate floor mats.. Im 20 and i grw up the same way... i knew NOTHING about cars... howstuffworks, this forum and wiki helped me within the past 4 months learn ALOT... i honestly can say i can confidentally do work on my car... Stage 2 kits, basic maintainence, exhaust, headers, hell even some tuning questions (not by far alot but, i know what should be what and why).. and alot of people answer my questions on here, becuase i dont ask stupid ones, and i dont bother anybody.. Starting with a catch can system like that will boost confidence... it would make ME say "oh ****, i did something, it works, woo hoo!"... i felt good after i did my header / dp.. And helping do the stage 2 was fun... Trying things lets you see how easy some of the tasks could be..

My 23 cents...

ps that makes the "engine room" look decorative... i LOVE how the return style fuel system works / looks as well.. Just a neat little thing to do that would make you feel more comfortable with trying things.

the home depot catch can should be real easy... just sounds like you cut the vacuum hose and install the catch can where you cut the hose.... I am pretty sure it is the small hose that attaches to the cold air induction tube.... some have said it might be a bad idea to make the cut near the back of the engine...too much heat with the headers back there....if you decided to get rid of the catch can, it is REAL easy to re-attach the vacuum hose again... just buy the two-sided brass nipple ( get the correct size for the hose) and then just clamp both ends of the hose to the metal nipple..... the little screw clamps are pretty cheap at a parts store....make sure you are careful where you cut the vacuum hose so you dont cut any other hoses..... I think I almost cost myself some repair work when I was adding my new exhaust last week... I was cutting the old stock exhaust pipe and almost cut through the gas and brake lines.....doooohhh!!!!.....stupid mistake....those are the ones that get you.....in the wallet that is.....as for my exhaust replacement..( 2.5").... kind of wished I had waited to buy it.... not much improvement and I have stage 2..... it did appear to LOWER my gas mileage though....

I would say keep the heat shields. They do work. I, for one don't like people poking aound under the hood. Lets people know what you are bringing to the table.

There's a how to on the RL forums. Total is like 20 bucks. The small filter and two brass hose fittings, should be pretty straightforward. It took me 10 minutes in the parking lot to put it in and it works. (works equating to preventing engine oil from getting into the intake).

Aftermarket headers don't need the heat shield if they are tubular. The stock manifold heats up like a ************ however so you should leave it on if you have that.

So after i put my headers on my chevy truck and removed the heat shields, my plug wires and a few sensor wires should not have melted? Keep the heat shields, they are put there for a reason.

You can't keep them with an aftermarket header. No room
