If you are looking for 400-500whp you are definatly going to have to build the motor. As for a kit the best one is doing you're research and building you're own

Once you start into the mid 300's i would say it's time to build. Noone will say one is better than the other. Type in turbo kit in the search, start reading and you'll soon know what you want.

Why is that. Its somewhere to start. I have the lk9 mani now. And some of my other parts. Thats to get the boost on and upgrade from there. Seriously, Ive done my other rides sort of this way. Worked fine for me. Tired of under 300 hp.

Because it's cheap, made in china junk. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. And there is a reason a complete ebay turbo kit is $1200 obo. Because it's garbage.

You are if you plan on buying an ebay turbo kit . Why would you buy a junk kit then upgrade from there? It doesnt make sense. Save you're pennies and do it right the first time.

I'm not trying to disrespect either but there is a reason that most turbo kits are in the 5k area.

You don't have to build your motor for over 300whp applications. Many cobalt owners have been fine. Properly tuned and how you take care of the car and how you drive regularly, you can push towards 400 and probably be fine.

As for the E-bay turbos they are hit or miss. They can be a good jumping off point. I'm running an e-bay turbo and it's been fine so far not to mention it was used to boot.

Kennyspec ran 360whp for an entire summer with his turbo swap and it never blew but ended up wearing out in the end.
