grand am axles

I heard they are a direct bolt-in for the ss/sc, if so I know they are a bit stronger. anyone one know what you got to do to make these things fit?

I don't think they were a direct bolt on, but they did use them for the Street Tuner Challange cobalt SS

Why not just go with the drive shaft shop axles that they make for our cars.

I thought they were like 799, don't have that kind of money at the moment, my friends uncle owns a junkyard by my house so I get that kind of stuff cheap.

The bolt pattern is different and the hubs would have to be redrilled allowing for the use of stock wheels. The Driveshaft Shop is looking into different axles for me and those may be an alternative. But don't forget the larger axels also made it necessary to forgo ABS brakes and to run these bigger shafts that will likely be the same for us. Once the shafts have been figured out for my car I will let everyone know.

yah, i don't want to loose my abs, I think the intense one keeps all stock functionality, just beefier, which will be enough for my need, but yah for you rod, you'll need even stronger

this is the only car I"ve ever had with abs (out of 23) I don't really care for it anyway... I"ll still keep it in the rear though I'm guessing...

Grand am axles

The SCCA cobalt that Chevy put together uses the next step up axles and hubs, Grand Prix parts if I remember correctly. Its in the Ecotec book that chevy sells, I got myself one awhile ago. Its got all the part numbers in it and some decent pics too.

i thought that on the street tuner challenge they use the hub and steering knucle because they had to re-drill the rotors to fit the hubs and order new rims to fit the new bolt pattern.

i dont kno if they used the half shafts or not

Nope, they transfered the axles, hubs, knuckels, and brakes because they where having durability issues. They also had to make custom lower control arms to make it all work, which is the reason I havent done it..... yet
