Gravana Twincharger Response
Gravana Twincharger Response
I wrote to Jim at Gravana Tuning about their progress on their twincharger system and this the response I got......
Project is coming along slowly, as the installation is requiring serious mods (relocating the electrical and brake system boxes to the passenger side) to accommodate this type of installation. Since the kit cost will most-likely exceed $8k, and the inherent risk of relocating things like brake lines and electrical boxes will cause problems, we will probably not build these kits for consumer sales. We initially started the project with consumers in mind. However, we are finding this type of product to be far from consumer friendly.
On a lighter note, we are working on two alternate options. The first is a 20-30HP (approx.) upgrade. Since the pulleys are integrated on the Magnusons, it is not reliable to simply replace the pulley. Thus, we are working toward a front-end replacement that will offer a simple solution with no computer tuning needed. The second option is a complete Supercharger upgrade that will offer 75-100HP (approx.) over stock. Stay tuned and pray with us that we can get GM to cooperate with computer data on the second option!!!

Sweet. Wonder what blower they are going to use for the upgrade. Also, I think it would be interesting to see vortech or someone to come out with a centrifigal blower upgrade, like they did with the '03-'04 cobra's. Or maybe even an intercooler upgrade like they make for the cobra's.
Well, that just about ends it for me. The CSS was attractive to me as an alternative to the SRT-4 as I value my comfort pretty highly. That was assuming it could be modded to at least match the -4 in acceleration. I believed twin-charging would have been a very good step in that direction. While I do enjoy mid-range power more than most, the high-end pull of a turbo is calling my name.
I will still hold off on my purchase until I see what a s/c modification can achieve, but I am not optimistic.

so i guess everyone is going to stay below 300hp because theyre afraid of their engine. Someone's gotta be first at everything.
And no, he doesnt necessarily have to blow his engine. There is a 4.2 pulley available for the m90 so he doesnt have to run a crazy amount of boost if he doesnt want to.

Hell no im looking to put out at least 350-400..i was just saying make sure the **** works and who really cares about being first...and yes i thought about putting the m90 on my car
I am selling my sc kit, but i already have a buyer. If anyone wants a m90 to work out an adaptor plate email GTPED@msn.com . He is a grand prix used parts dealer and he has a "few" SC laying around
SCs usually cost about $200-300 for a complete SC.
The m90 will NOT bolt on. You will need to have an adaptor plate made for the oulter and the TB.

i think vamp had the best mentality when he PM'd me about an m90
It seems that everyone on this forum wants to mod their Cobalt SS to the max, but they want someone else to do it first . Well consider me the first bufflo off the cliff!
