I saw a guy at a local dyno day after he put a cat back on. He lost some peak hp, but gained in the midrange.

Theres this ugly light on the dash that comes on now....haha but i dont know, not a huge differance but i did notice abit..... I also ported my manifold at the same time.... to be honest, i think it might have lost abit bottom end but up top end seems a little better.....
exhaust didnt get to much louder.....sounds abit more thoatier...

for gutting it, all you need is a long bar or pipe and just keep smashing inside til its all in pieces and falls out..... sometimes at the end theres still a few small chunks that are hard to break up but just keep hitting them.... took me about 20-30mins to gut it. also beware that the exhaust bolts/nuts can break very easy.....sometimes you might have to heat them up.... good luck!

Rick1217,have you tried the sparkplug anti-fouler trick to see if that would solve your cel problem?

It's when you get 2 sparkplug anti-foulers you drill out the bottom of one and then you screw the one you drilled out into the other one. After that you screw your 02 sensor into the anti-foulers and then into your 02 bung.Since your cat is gutted you have alot more air flow hitting your 02 sensor which makes your computer read it as if the cats not doing it's job. What this does is move the sensor out of the direct path of air flow tricking the computer. You can find the foulers at any auto parts store.

I will have to try that.....I did see something on ebay like that....it just kinda spaces the 02 sensor out abit so not as much airflow hits it.....

2 sparkplug anti-foulers + 4.98$ at auto zone = no cel for a 1000miles. You can also find some near you who has HPTuners and just turn off the rear O2......

a gutted cat on a stock downpipe is probably good for about 2hp. not worth the sound you will have afterwards.

like what was mentioned before, there isnt a big differance in sound...... I would also think that there would be atleast +5hp increase..... the stock cat is the biggest restriction on the downpipe, not pipe size/shape, but either way, its a free mod.... just like the air box mod...

It doesn't sound bad at all..I have stock header and ARK catback. It sure made my exhaust louder, but it sounds exactly like before, just higher tone.
