H E L P !! Water on Filter??

I just drove my car through the rain all day and I feel like I got water on my filter and possibly sucked into the motor? Also I had major bog and white smoke from tailpipe. Any help here??

Hope it's not an head gasket

Check your oil and your antifreeze level, spark plugs . How much water you suck up?

Did you check the filter to see if it was wet? They make a hydro shield to prevent water from getting in your filter. Also what type of filter do you have. Dry or oil based?

Oil looked fine, and I'm not sure I sucked up any water I was just wondering if anyone else had the problem of bogging from water or anything

I think a compression test is a good indication of the overall general health of an engine.

Not always:
When I baught my car it kept saying "P0172 System Too Rich Bank 1"
Instead if it was telling me what was wrong it should have said "I'm running 42# injectors on a 2.85" pulley with a stock tune"

The previous owner had an intense tune in it based on the intense stickers on the PCM. I called up intense and the guy said that what probably happened is that the dealership reflashed the tune back to stock when they got the car. I probably shouldn't have baugth the car, but I didnt know it had 42s and I didnt realise that the 2.85" wasn't stock, also didnt see the intense sticker on the PCM. Well now I have a ZZP sticker on it and running 60s So I got tha nonsense straightened out.

had this happen to me in august or so. your maf sensor is wet you need to take it out and clean it and get you a hydro shield to protect it. my car would blow white smoke and when i went up a hill it would die and then start right back up and go thats why i now have a sri lol but you best do it before you get hydro lock on your engine once you clean it i let the car idle for 15 min

You may want to consider switching to an oil based filter. They seem to repel water better.

I believe a few of the vendors on here sell the hydro shield. I used it when I lived in Wyoming and it seemed to help.

If you still have the CEL tomorrow run up to an auto parts store and have them check the code. You might have just got water somewhere and it will dry and the CEL will go away. You never know.

Yea the dealers usually reflash back to stock so they can sell their warranty crap. Alot of times its actually worse for the car

I never had a problem with oiled filters, i would recommend you get one. I've only had problems with GM's tunes with aftermarket CAI.

I highly doubt the water did any internal damage to the engine if it's still running. If it did anything it would hydro-lock a cylinder and it would have seized or completely stalled out.

Read the code and go from there.

The stock airbox works great as a hydro shield Drove (slowly) through over a foot of water with it and didnt suck up anything. Just don't let it sit and submerge.
