Hard To Find Exhaust Leak !!

I'm not having any luck tracking down a possible exhaust leak !! I can't seem to pin piont where it coming from. It's either the flex section or a cracked manifold. I Know that you guys can't say for sure over the internet. But, has anyone else ever had a cracked manifold at all ? My flex section with the cat in it ( The down pipe ) is only two years old. Not that that means anything. I just can't seem to find it. It almost sounds like air rushing threw a small pin hole.

Could it be some kind of boost leak ? Like the boost bleeding out the accuator ?

I'm so confused !!!

Have a friend stuff and hold a rag in the end of the exhaust and look and listen verry carefully where you suspect the leak to be, also feel with your hands for the leak as well but dont burn yourself. oh also lok for soot or carbon where you suspect the leak to be.

I had a flex start leaking.....the inner part of the flex broke loose and sounded like a leak.
It was under warranty and the dealer could not find a leak.
Eventually with the inards broken the flex started to weaken and then sprung a leak.

I have had 2 ZZP flex's break and I have had a cracked manifold. There isnt really a way to tell unless you go to and exhaust shop and have them pull out there modified stethoscope so they can pinpoint exactly where it is coming from

The flex pipes break in no time... esp the stock ones.

Thanks for the replys everyone. It deffinitly sounds like a hissing. That is i guess the best way i can describe it. I'm guess by the sounds of what most are saying it could very well be the inner part of my flex letting go !

i would definatly say flex and ur boost gauge isant reading as high because maby the temp is not leting it pull in as much air/ its leaking enough to make it have less pressure= less boost.

It's funny you mention that. I have the car in the shop right now. And the mechanic just called and said he thinks the gasket between the down pipe and mid pipe is leaking. So he is gonna pull it apart, clean both ends up and put a new gasket in and see how that goes. He said the noise is not anywhere near the flex section. I hope he is right !

My mechanic said the same thing.. till he changed gaskets and it still made the noise...

Its normally a very small slit that is hard to find... you almost have to bend the flex to see it.
