header/downpipe???
If i were to just get a downpipe with no cat and bolt it up to an after-market exhaust would i see a pretty decent gain in power or should i just be patient and get a bigger header too?? My mods are 60#'s, lightning h/e, and a 2.8. lemme know what yall think

Eh.. Up to you bud.. My advice is to go ahead and get the header/dp combo with a 3" dp with a 2.5" exit that will bolt up right to the stock exhaust.. After you get the funds.. Get ya a catback..
This is what a lot of people did, but go at it anyway you want, but your not going to want to stick with JUST an aftermarket dp and catback.. eventually.. you'll need that header to free up space for that smaller pulley..
I just went with a ZZP H/DP Combo.. I love it :P

I work near the group at GM that developed the GMPP stage kits and they have done a lot of track testing with these cars. They tell me that the difference between a completely open exhaust and a stock exhaust is about 2 whp. That said, I have a TOG header, a ZZ Performance downpipe with 2.5" exit, and a GMPP sport exhaust. I did not do dyno runs on the car before and after, so I cannot speak to the exact change, but it feels like it pulls better and it definitely sounds better. Gather as much information as you can and make a decision that you will be happy with.
