Catless 3'' DP baby... these suckers are going on this friday. And next week I order the muffler-less SLP Loudmouth II catback... which adds up to the least restrictive exhaust that is legal in north dakota

haha. We will find out! I like loud. I have heard the SLP exhaust, and its loud... but sounds awesome. If its too loud, ill buy a high flow cat or a muffler. But lets see how it goes first

i had a 3" flopro muffler on mine...sounded good..put a catless header/downpipe on..and omg...it was horrible...worst sounding cobalt ever (very loud and very raspy)

go with a resonator to quiet it up.

 

the catback has two resonators in it. SRT4s have no mufflers stock, but have resonators. Sound ******* MEAN. And hey, doesnt have to sound perfect. But like I said if its bad enough Ill just get a high flow, no big deal.

well let him do his thing..if hes like me hell like it....loud is good.rasp doesnt bother me but he may not like it so let him be excited for it.

 

I have experienced an extremely loud exhaust... Vibrant header/dp/catback. Damn thats loud. But still sounds fricken nice. My taste in sound is a bit different than normal, so yeah I may like it, I may not. only one way to find out right?

Zach, where did you get the Evo 5s? I want those rims but they are hard to find, for me anyways.

 

They also have a turbo, that does a major part in controlling the exhaust noise and making it sound good.

 

hope that package comes with earplugs... that will be loud as hell, and very raspy. for some reason you like rasp though, which in general is the signs of a shitty sounding exhaust, so maybe you'll like it. who knows.

and as far as an srt-4 with no muffler, you can't compare a 2.4l turbo'd car to a 2.0'l supercharged car. not the same.

 

Also, emission laws are federal. You are required by law to have a catalytic converter on your car.

Here in FL, we don't have emissions testing anymore either, but it doesn't change that fact that technically you are still legally required to have the proper emission control equipment on the car.

 

Again, I like noise. You might not, but hey. You didnt buy it.

Well, how do they check to see if you have a cat or not unless you bring it to the dealership, which I dont do anymore as my warranty is gone and I do most of the work myself. If I cant, I know someone who can. I have connections to a dealership anyways, the guys wont care. They know about it already anyways.

It will be loud as ****, yes... but its not like I cant do anything about it if it is. Does it really hurt to try?

 

when i went catless for a while, even with a big ass resonator and muffler on my exhaust, it still sounded like complete ass. I can't stand rasp.

All the stuff is easily replaceable... I just feel safer with a 3'' because I will be going 2.7 soon. If I dont need it or dont like the sound, Ill just make/buy a 2.5, no big deal.

Sound really doesnt bother me that much. And I still have stock catback for a while, so I have the money to change the DP if I want too.

Legal? ND has no loud exhaust laws? Emission's is one thing , but i'd be suprised if there isn't some kind of noise level limit for car's in your state. I hate it when i hear a fart can at 3AM .

But we have noise laws, yes, but no car has been busted for them. They only enforce them on motorcycles (why, I dont know) but this will be far from the loudest here, believe me.

 

There have been quite a few cars busted for it actually. Just not for about a year because now it is only in effect after 10:30pm and they really dont even bother you like they used to. Quite a few of our friends got pulled over for it last year (nick cain, josh bakken...wonder why lol, troy i think, brock, and a couple more) but they havent cared much lately, And if it is too loud like my car was with the vibrant header/dp with 2.5 inch catback with no resonator and vibrant muffler (I got the vibrant stuff REAL cheap) we will add a resonator like I did.

I can almost guarentee you will be one of the loudest LSJs out there with that setup. Please post a fly-by vid to prove me wrong.
