header problem
header problem
I took off my stock header and dp, and now my vibrant header wont fit on. there is a tube or something in the way because the vibrant header had a small extra tube coming out its right side and it hits a part of mr car. what do i do cuz i cant get that damn tube off and its about to rain and i dont have another car to drive to work in the morning.
Is it the tube to the left of the header and one underneath? If it is then those are coolant tubes. Dont install the header if it runs on those. It will cost you a pretty penny to have those replaced.
I dont have my camera.... but if you picture it, it has 4 tubs for the regular exaust, but the off to the side, it has a small tube that does from the last port, to just the sidew of the header fo no reason that i can think of, but what ever it is, it wont fit
you just had 4 tubes, and thats it? nothing odd just looping out or anything? I dont even care what it is really, other than the fact that I have a air type looking tube in the way so that I cant fit the header. Is there a way to take off that weird ass clamp?
yea i have a camera phone. but it wont hook up to my computer

^^^They are in his vb garage.
Yeah, I think so. I had to deal with those when I did my manifold install. The way I did it was with a pair of pliers. You have to pinch those two ends closer together and then slide the clamp down the tube. Its really annoying because the pliers tend to slip right when you start to move the clamp.

Sorry looked in the gallery. I just got my header today and it does not have that elbow on the left. As for the clamp I find it best to use channel locks but with the room it would be hard. When you pull hoses take a screwdriver or somthing like it and use it to pry the hose away from the connector.
Quick question what gaskets are you guys using with you headers?

ok, here is an update. i put my stock setup back on. i now have an exaust leak and only get 11 psi before it suddenly just backs off. so i have to talk to vibrant cuz it must be the wronge set up. im soooo pissed... any thoughts?
I think that extra tube is for EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) I thought they were getting rid of this on the new headers, but I guess not.
Leak with the old setup? Time to get a new gasket. Keep us updated, and I hope it works out for you.

I think it leaks because i cant remember if i tightened the bottom set of bolts on the header. so im gunna check those in a bit. but as far as the new header goes, is that "EGS" suppossed to give me this much hell? and does anybody know what that hose is in my pics that i keep hitting? Or does vibrant have another version of the 4-2-1 header that they shoulda sent to me instead...
