Header Wrap question
Header Wrap question
I purchased header wrap for my GMPP extrude honed manifold which I will probably install in a couple weeks, for two reasons:
1. To reduce the chances of getting a CEL with my high flow cat
2. To increase flow speed for better gains
I have a few concerns:
1. Can I get in trouble at the dealership for installing that, especially with the manifold at the back on our cars?
2. What are the chances of it catching on fire while getting in contact with a flammable liquid (oil, etc.)?
Pretty much, I want to know how safe/unsafe this is, and if it’s really worth it. The high flow cat I purchased is a Magnaflow, and they claim it is EPA OBDII compliant, but I don’t know if this is true or not; will it really throw a CEL.... so that’s why I was considering header wrap.

leaper - the CA site says not to use wrap... and i wouldnt... its not meant for some type of metals...
pat_07 - Stickin with warrenty eh? How are u installing the headers? If dealership is doing it, try giving them the wrap and ask them to put it on... im sure the heat shield still fits, so i dont think theres any need for it... And i doubt it will be flammable, im sure they tested for that (vehicle crashes, oil gets everywhere, they have to test for that kinda stuff)
