Heat Exchanger Question...again.

I am in need of a heat exchanger to finish the majority of my cooling mods. I am wondering if I should go with the cxracing heat exchanger from ebay or the cxracing heat exchanger from ottperformance.

There is a difference. The heat exchanger from ottperformance is SMALLER then the normal cxracing/cxmotorsport heat exchanger on ebay.

176shipped for the larger cxracing ebay / cxmotorsport ebay heat exchanger.
297shipped for the smaller cxracing heat exchanger and all hardware needed to install it.

Which would you guys go with?

Also, i plan on using an intercooler sprayer for the heat exchanger. I am wondering which would be better to use. The NX one that is basically a rectangle, or the NOS one which is the new "snake" design and says it covers 20% more blah blah blah. Let me know, thanks guys.

jesus! I didn't realize they were selling them for so much. 300 is not worth it when you can buy it for 176 on ebay and spend 20 bucks on buying brackets and hoses at the hardware store.

get the bigger one off ebay. ottperformance is definitely marking those prices up.

i'm not sure your gonna need an intercooler sprayer, it's air to water so it's really not needd. just get a H20/ Methkit. it'll do wonders for performance.

ok gotcha, no need for an intercooler sprayer, i already have meth, and already have dual pass, so i guess i just need a 35shot of nitrous as my last "cooling" mod.

ralliartist, if ottperformance were to sell them at a cheaper price, what price would make the kit worth it? 300shipped worth it? 275 shipped worth it? 250shipped worth it?

Let me know your opinion, thanks.

you should get the EBAY CX and just follow ColeJJones' HOW-TO thread on mounting it, it's very simple...

I am recovering from a broken back so the dyno shop that is sponsoring me is going to be the ones to install it. I am sure they would prefer a full fledge kit instead of having to fab things etc.

I will check out the how-to thread though and see what it says and how it it is, I mean they have done it before and know what there doing, but I am not sure if theres going to be a big difference between the smaller cx racing h/e and the bigger one.

With the lowering springs i have maybe i should grab the smaller one so i dont have any issues with clearance.

Lets say I talked him down to 250shipped for that kit, would it be worth it?

I highly doubt i would be able to, but i can always ask.

i guess really all it comes down to now is if YOU care about the size. it is very very easy to mount so just ask the shop i guess.

Its more so I hate ordering off ebay, I just like going through vendors and websites. Do you think there will be a significant difference in cooling between the two?

I have the one off ebay. I am very happy with it! In the how to it says to cut away some of the bumper, but I didnt. I actually fabbed up brackets so it connects to the same thing the radiator connects to. I just replaced the smaller bolts with larger ones so it held the brackets tight.

Only problem with that was that the heat exchanger hangs an inch and a half below the bumper that way, but I didnt feel comortable taking a saw to my car. So I bought the 2.4 ss /na lower grill and you barely notice it.

if it's that much of a concern, just by the one from ottperformance. I'm a budget cruncher though, I still haven't put a grand into my car and that includes buying the slicks and rims.

true that, make sure you don't hit the juicy juice if you are running a **** load of timing.

currently I am not tuned for the meth, and have not touched my timing at all. I just have the stage 2 tune.

I didn't plan on buying nos, and still dont know if i am going to, its kind of up in the air, but I think i might just for the "fun" factor. If gm says a 50shot is fine from the stage 3 kit, i dont think a 35shot will be to much of a problem. But let me know your guys opinion.

there really is not that much mark up at all, most of the hardware is stainless and the brackets are custom tig welded. Trust when i say that you will not find another kit for a better value.
