Cool Help!!!

Help!! My car has been showing a lean code, which I have known to be from my CAI. This code has been intermittent, up until two weeks ago when I installed a Vibrant header and hi flow cat. Now the code is on all the time, power feels down, and it does not matter how much octane boost i put with my premium, the car detonates under 3/4 boost to full boost all of the time!!

Will putting the stock cai on resolve this problem?

Do I need to upgrade injectors?

I have a snow performance kit that I will be installing once the snow is gone, will this eliminate all my problems?

Do I need to reflash my pcm?

All mods to date include

cai, magnaflow cat/back exhaust, gmpp stg II with 2.79" pulley, stage III tune pcm, vibrant header/hi flow cat

Regards

try running a 2.8 pulley or larger. the GM stage 2 runs rich, but never go below a 2.85 pulley i believe it is.

Do I need to reflash my pcm? With a meth kit, Yes

Which tune are you running the GM stg 2 flash or the Intense you have listed.

If it's the Intense tune, that may be your problem. Last I had heard their canned tune was pretty ragged.

Yea im confused..

You cant say you have a GM stage 2, then say your using a Stage 3 pcm..

You would no longer have GM stage 2..

Intense PCMS have a big problem with detonating, and blowing, which is the problem your seeing.

I had intense flash the pcm to stg III because I was going with a smaller pulley.

This is a very heated and lengthy debate on the css.net

The common answer will be that you cannot run the 2.8 on the 42.5 lb/hr injectors.

I have heard all sorts of horror stories on the Intense Stg 3 tune with this set-up

However, I and many others have gotten away with running a 2.8" on the GM Stg 2 tune*. I have over 2 years clocked on this set-up. YES it does tax the snot out of the injectors near redline. But I monitor with both Interceptor and an Innovate WB. I get 0 knock, my IAT2's and AFR are all in safe ranges.

Are 60 lb/hr injectors better? Probably

Does 2.8 + 42.5 lb/hr = BOOM? depends who you ask

*Supporting mods ARE HUGE. I have done the dual-pass/Option B/Cobra HE/ I/H/E, etc etc.

How is that pulley too small?

Just because you dont want it doesnt mean he shouldnt use it...

Same everything in a car, the 2.8 would beat the 2.9.

You do not need all those cooling mods...

does it help? Yes.. but your car doesnt blow up if you dont use them.

I was on 42s and a 2.8 for a half a year.. no problems...

I have no issues upgrading injectors, and the primary reason for the meth injection is to obviously increase power, but also increase the efficiency of the supercharger which drops with 2.9" pulleys and smaller.

consequently I am staying out of the throttle until this is fixed.

I have the HP Tuners VCM and have not yet used. To be honest it is a little overwhelming.... I have always been used to tuning four barrel holleys!!

Currently engaged with HP Tuners to see where to start.

Any more thoughts? I appreciate you all engaging with your advice!!

If you have HPT, than you are ahead of the game. I wish I had the $$ right now for it.

HPT have their own forums with a wealth of knowledge to help get you started. There is also a tuning section on our forums right here, full of members who can help you with the ins and outs of LSJ tuning.

I have started collecting a few tunes that friends have given me, if you'd like I can probably e-mail them to ya, so you'll have a few references as to how others are tuning the LSJ.

Damnit I wish I had the VCM suite, lol
