Help!!!!!

Having a problem and i need some advice. I own a 06 ss s/c with g85 package, anywho a couple of months ago i replace the stock pulley with a 2.85 and let me tell you the gain was well worth the money the boost went from 10 to 12 to 15 to 18 and the car ran great and the gas mileage increased by 2mpg. Today was the first cold day here in houston texas and my car took a Sh*t. according to the boost gauge im boosting past 20 and my car falls on its ass. NO real power anymore, it boosts to 20 in a blink of a eye, if i drive it very slow its fine. My question is has any one had this problem and how can i fix it. im getting dusted by scions. lol. Thanks guys and gals for your input.

its called spike it happens when it is really cold i have that happened to my z24 with a turbo went from 7psi to 15psi = not good when ur car starts cutting out ur not gettign enough fuel meaning Bye Bye pistons i blew a chunk out of one. I didnt think you could have boost spike with this car sounds like it needs to be tuned or re flashed or i could be wrong all together that was a turbo not a S/c on my Z.

Might have blown the head gasket or something else internal. No power usually means no compression. Something is mechanically wrong there.

If it were a head gasket it would blow white smoke. the car runs great at idle and regular driving. but when it hits 20 psi on gauge the car loses power.

its the computer limitng the boost. you have to do the boost bypass mod if you want to keep running it at that high of a psi. do a search and you can find like 3 threads about it.

If the car is limiting boost why did it run great for 3 months with no problems and now why does the boost gauge show over 20 psi boost in a instant?? thanks.

Take off the aftermarket parts and take it into the dealer.

I had a friend blow his head gasket on his old Chrysler Turbo Le Baron. It never threw any smoke. That has nothing to do with blowing the head gasket. He probably overpressurized the internals and something blew! May just need an ECU adjustment to deal with the increased boost though.

Definitly something internal...You shouldn't of went with that small of a pulley w/out a piggy back or something to compensate for the extra fuel needed and what not...But as stated before take off the pulley and take the car into the dealer, couldn't hurt to try...

Answer: The catalyst broke apart and logged it self in the exhaust. removed the pulley and sent it to the dealer. Thanks all!!

Running a pulley so small with stock exhaust (and with the stock restrictive muffler) is not a good thing, it will make too much boost, and you were probably running very lean for the last RPM's.

you were probably hitting fuel cut. in my talon tsi, when it was near stock, i was boosting about 15psi and on a cold night i would get about 19-20 and it would feel like i was hitting a brick wall as soon as it spiked that high. but then again, i don't think i've ever heard of a supercharged car spiking like that.
