hmmm, this doesn't seem right

found this after i put the 60's in this weekend.

put them in, went out retuned the maf on the new map, didn't go wot all night. nothing else has changed but the injectors. first pull, i noticed it running 19 degree's of timing. hmmmmm, thats not right, it's missing a lot here.

check out the log, look at the histogram on the timing. 1.32. DOH!

the table maxes at 1.36. pulley is the same, everything is the same but the injectors.

interesting to say the least. i noticed my maf numbers went up to over 300, kept going higher in the cells as well.

now the question, why would changing to injectors stick the active cells in the timing area damn near at the bottom towards the 1.36 range. whats going to happen if i drop pulleys?

this has left me at a standstill on what to do next on the car.

i still want to maintain control!

the timing table stops at 1.36, doesn't go any higher!

hence my delima. if it did go higher, i wouldn't worry about it.

one of my old maps showing the timing side of it.

doesn't the table just carry the values set at 1.36 higher if it exceeds the parameter of the table

I wonder what it would look like if you were running 50#ers.

Don't need injectors that large, that is why.

HPtuners was originally brought out for the larger motors, and the calculations for injector duty cycle are off. 42's are good for upwards of 400hp..

then explain to me why my 42's were losing control at 6400 rpms, and the a/f would skyrocket.

There could be many reasons as to why that happened, none of which I have an answer to. lol..Sorry...But answer me this, why is it, that there are so many that are having tuning issues with the 60's and them exeeding the parameters of HPtuners?? HPtuners was meant for tuning motors with twice the injectors and twice the motor, which leaves you with having to do further calculations to shrink that down. The HP capabilites of 42 pound an hour injectors is much more then 250ish horse power.

here is a short reason. lsj is exceeding the tables, hence going rich. needs to do more work on the math side of it to get them back inline.

now, in my case with the 42's. at 6400 it would start readin 12.3, then it would stop at 13.0 at 7200. my pe was set to run 11.9. riching it up at the top side would only make it worse. the 42's were done

my car felt strange past 6500rpms too with 42s.

and now i see about 75% duty cycle with 60lbers and only a 16lbs of boost.....so trust me, these cars need injectors this big

I dont understand how your getting that high in the graph.
most of my cels hover around 1.00

I have been running a 2.79 pulley on 42's with no issues at all for almost a year now. She's tuned with my A/F flat-lined at about 11.6...Pulls HARD up top...

i have no idea either. it used to run around the 1.08-1.12 cells.

hence why i asked the question.

to be honest. i bought the 60's as a back up, because my 42's were pissed off long before the water injection, i just didn't want to put them in as soon as i got them. i just wanted to go past what everyone else did with them

Just let me know when you think 60's would be a good idea. I wouldn't mind dropping to a 2.7" pulley at some point.

i personally am not dropping pulleys, im going another route, hence why i needed the 60's anyways.

just keep an eye on it, you will know when it's done

for me to mail my tune to ya?

there is a lot of differences, so just glancing over it wouldn't show anything. it's a mechanical issue i do believe.

did you tune the 60#s yourself? or are you using sjschafer's map.
how does the car feel otherwise? running strong? hesitating? etc? the timing map might not be a problem. more timing could be added earlier in the map maybe?

and lastly, i know how you feel. you've been graciously helping me and listening to my ranting PM's about my maxxed out 42#s, 110+ idc, and 20ms pulsewidths for weeks now. this isnt what i was hoping to hear about the 60#s.

it is sj's map that im beta testing to an extreme. runs great, pulls like a bitch from 40-140. egt peaks at 1450. for me to run any more timing is pointless and just more preamture wear on the bearings.
