Ok so i took my car to get a new clutch put in cause the clutch took a **** on me less than 3 days after buying the car. They had to order a new flywheel cause the one on there has already been resurfaced enough and the gmpp clutch isn't fitting to it anyways for some reason. Now they are saying the firewall has a hole in it and someone tried to fix it by putting a peice of metal and 6 screws over it, looks like a real bang up job
anyone had this problem and have any idea what to do? the transmission place putting the clutch in said it's just gonna keep burnin up clutches because the peice of metal they put on there is flexing everytime the clutch gets used.

idk what that would do for me though... i bought the car from a hyundai dealership as a used car. they said it still had 36k mile 5 year powertrain warranty which is the main reason i bought this specific cobalt. well the warranty is blocked so that alone confuses me, but now idk what to do cause i have a warranty block and bought it from a dealership 100 miles away.

yea idk, i just spoke with the dealerships gm and he even said that when i bought the car it should have came with the original 36k 5 year powertrain and i have a paper in my glovebox plus i signed a paper when i bought the car saying i was inheriting the warranty and when i first had the clutch problem i took it to the local gm dealership here to see what was wrong and see if it would be under warranty and they said the entire powertrain had a warranty block on it. That alone makes me not want the car. i bought it for the specific reason that it had warranty.
I hit a mailbox with my Dodge Shadow and I'll bet 100 bux, if you carfaxed my old shadow it would NOT be on there. As it never got reported. I Just paid the lady for her mailbox.
People are all about Carfax this and what not, and yes it's a good idea. But
they are not 100%. They can only list whats been reported.
Whats to say the previous owner didn't crash it into a tree, and just take it to his buddy to get fixed?

idk man, i just want a working car that doesn't need something completely random fixed every other week. I can't afford this stuff. I also want to know what the deal with the warranty is.
carfax blows i bought a 1999 cobra from a dealership before i bought my cobalt had eibach springs,5%tints, and magnaflow exhaust 75k on the motor. Asked them if i could take it to a friends shop to have it looked over. they said u can carfax but thats it so.. i did and after have it looked over car had been in a accident that never showed on the fax but you could tell the body was reweld and stuff was missing, long story short car lasted 3days and oil pump died on the highway and engine poped so now i got a cobalt

I'm just tryin to figure out what i'm supposed to do. I've already put the money into a new clutch, flywheel and the install and it's all on my mom's plastic and i have to pay for that i can't afford to keep adding to it.
I would suggest maybe get it fixed as best as possible and get rid of it before it rapes in you repaires down the road, just my two cents, It's a big rip off buying a used car being told ya it's ok and finding out it's all fu*ked up

yea, only thing is i have a $12,600 loan on the car for a 5 year term.
Sorry to hear that, only thing I can suggest is find out if the dealer you bought it from knew of all the problems with it such as the clutch and not telling you up front as there might be some consumer law against that, or some consumer agencies that can help you out
I dont understand how a piece of sheet metal on the firewall would affect the wear of the clutch. The only time a clutch should wear is when the friction disc is spinning a different rpm than the flywheel (IE more power than the clutch is rated for or using the clutch like a torque converter.)
also carfax works through insurance so if you dont go through your insurance carfax stays clean

u sure ur driving it ok r cars r weird in ways. ur clutch slips if u don't rev or get off right supposedly. Mine only slips when i rev drop the bitch and only did that 1 time
and i've had this thing since it had 11 miles on it, it's never even slid out in the snow before, much less had a wreck

I'm in a deep hole and don't know what to do to get the car fixed without getting bent over and raped anymore than i already have been. the clutch repair alone is putting me over a grand in the hole.
